When I test I get 120v on each leg. Maybe it's not 240 being supplied, and I get a reading of120 due to the elec. Going through the timer? Maybe the interface isn't connected? This is a variable speed

So I did test each. 120

i will test line to line, But is this just testing each lead? I did test both. And Both were hot at 120 and both are red wires. so I did test each while grounding ?

I test from each line at the motor connections. I test the two lines each indicates 120. But the interface does not light up and motor does not start. Maybe its not getting 220 Maybe my timer is sending just 120?? I am to test the timer AGAIN. I think my interface is not connected to the motor. So when the two supply is connected should it read 220? because it reads 120 when I have everything connected and test the connections on the back of the motor Maybe a breaker? I test. tomorrow.

I contacted my supplier and they said to contact the company. I called century and such but no luck.

I dont know if I should return this or ...

You need a real MM. If those are both red wires they COULD be same-phase, which would give you 120v to ground but you'd get nothing across them (where you should get 230-240v) and the pump would not run.

Wire colors are not the end-all of indicators, but usually when you wire 240v you have a black (phase A) wire and a red (phase B) wire, and a green (ground) wire. Sometimes you will also find a white (neutral) wire. Obviously anyone CAN use any color they want and the wire will still conduct electricity. But if it's done correctly, two red wires means you have two phase B conductors and that will not give you 240v.

Thank you Raven, In testing I was getting 120 everywhere but once I went to “line to line”. Nothing. I got a new breaker, one at pool elec. board. . Everything started up. Now on to clearing. But I am to run new wires due to new pump is longer. I bought 10awg and 8 for ground, hope it fits through conduit run which is very short
