Our Hayward robotic shark has a tear in the insulating wrap of the power cord where it attaches to the shark. Pics enclosed.

i had left the shark in the water for 4-5 days straight and it worked fine for 4 hrs before i pulled it out. So nothing yet re electrical short. Also, the cord has been spun to where it’s real tight bc of no swivel. Instead of taking completely apart, disconnecting wires and pulling cord, what substance(s) would you recommend to reseal? I was thinking of filling open area w silicone and spraying the entire black area of cord w Flex Seal.

thanks for your suggestions,
tstex

Sorry tstex, if you are handy and can guarantee your families safety with a fix, that’s your own judgment call. But to advise anything other than a replacement cord would be irresponsible to any and all future readers who may not know better, or the 100 pages of disclaimers that come with such a fix.

It’s water, a frayed power cord and potential swimmers. There is only one guaranteed safe answer and it’s replacement.

thanks....it's 5-6 yrs old so instead of going w a $200+ new cord, probably better to invest into a new one...a dolphin from what I read seems to be the best.

note, w a pebble sheen finish, it is tough on all materials in the water...but a pebble tech [the roughest] is probably the worst of all...

I get it. And we all do. End of the season, just need to stretch this one a little longer....... yeah. Still hard no though. :)

The s200 dolphin (and all its sister clones with different brands/ stickers) is widely regarded as the best bang for the buck around $700. Call Margaret at marina pools and spas for the best price and any extras to fit your specific needs. On the plus side they have probably calmed down a little from the crazy summer when it was hard to get somebody free to take your call.
