Question about my pool waterfall

So we just moved into this house which has a waterfall feature. Question...there are two pvc pipes sticking up above the water line and the water shoots up, lands in the small waterfall pool, and then it falls down over the ledge into the main pool. Is that the way it is supposed to be? It looks kind of cheesy just two white pvc pipes sticking up like that. Is there supposed to be some kind of fixture or something over them? I have not seen anything online and nobody I asked so far has any answers. I have attached a photo...thx.

Interesting. My thoughts are you can do one of 2 things:

1. Add a fountain head on to the top to give it less of a homemade look . I just did a quick search on amazon and found the one below:

2. See if the PVC is just threaded into the bottom of the pool, and you can just unscrew it. The overflow on many spas are like that and you can leave them alone, or screw in a piece of PVC to make a bubbler.

Thank you I will check this out.

I just looked on Amazon. If I put a head on it that sprays water outside of that little area it is in then will I lose that waterfall effect going over the ledge? I do like the sound effect of the water trickling over into the pool just not seeing two pipes sticking up as I’m guessing the ledge was put there for that reason. Probably look into just cutting them down or unscrewing them. Thx

Correct, you would want the water to stay within the little area, so that it overflows into the pool. Any head you choose would just act as a more professional bubbler, and you may want to still cut down the pipe so it barely breaks the surface and shoots the water up a few inches.

If you dont care about the bubbler effect, just try unscrewing them and that will let the little area still fill up and overflow into the pool.
