Leaking In-Ground Vinyl - How to best winterize / close

Hello TFP Forum. Seeking some advise from the group since no pool contractor wants to return a call. I have an in-ground 32x16 vinyl liner pool in the northern NJ area with a leak. Is there real danger with closing/winterizing the pool with it being half empty? Water level would be to bottom of stairs / just below top of the light if you can see in the pic below. I don't want it to collapse in or anything. I am looking to do an overhaul regardless, but it likely won't be until spring.

I definitely have a leak in at least two spots. I let it drain out without the pump on and it drained to below the skimmer / returns to just below the top of the light / bottom of the stairs (where I think it would stay once winterized). It stayed at this point for maybe 5 days. I then started up the pump by pulling from the bottom drain and let it run for 2 days and noticed the water level dropped even further. I suspect there is another leak at the pump pad (I have had some suspicion.)

Any comments / input appreciated. Thanks in advance!

That looks like a light in the picture. You water level is at the level of the light. When mine did that, it needed a new liner so I replaced the liner and had the light well fixed. It did it during the winter so it sat half full the whole time. I got away with it since it was a mild winter. Your mileage may vary. It is 2020 afterall.

In your case, I'd have somebody take a quick look in the light well. It is an easy fix if that is the problem. Refill and you can chase down the pad leak.

How old is the liner? How long would you guess its been leaking? Can you take a pic of the stair side and post it?
I'm slammed like never before but I may be able to look at it quick if I'm in your area, my supply house is next town over
