Installing Salt Cell - Moron Support

I just want to be sure I’m not doing something stupid here. I know I need a backflow valve upstream of SCG to prevent concentrated chlorinated water from entering heater. I was going to cut out that carbon filter and put backflow there in green. I’m going to cutout that ball valve in the front and replace with serviceable pentair ball valve in purple. And then I was going to install salt cell in Orange right there.
does this all make sense? This would allow me 12-18” upstream if SCG as recommended. Also does it really help to install vertically? I think I could easily do it, I was thinking something like the last picture of it really is better performance. Does it just prevent build up compared to being horizontal?

There is no need for a check valve between the SWCG and heater. When the SWCG turns off, it no longer makes chlorine. And it is not the chlorine that is the issue, it is pH as far as the heater goes. With a tab feeder, you definitely need a check valve between it and the heater as tablets are very acidic.

Otherwise, I will let others critique your installation. Looks OK to me.

Ok great thanks.

any opinion on mounting horizontal vs vertical?

Either works. Depending on what brand of SWCG will depend on if you must install on the upflow side or it may not matter.

Not sure how that is. Mine is horizontal.

The IC40 MUST be plumbed to be upflow if mounted vertically.
