New Spool Build: Ledgerstone Wall Questions...

I have a question about stone ledger wall materials. I would like to use a natural quartz ledgerstone on a new pool/Spool build. The stone will be installed on a 3 foot high wall above the waterline. There will be a waterfall feature that spills over the wall into the pool, so part of the wall will be splashed with pool water and chemicals. My question is, can I install ledgerstone from a Floor Decor type store that has an outside weather rating, or one that is rated for outside/shower use, or am I limited to just what pool tile manufacturers are offering? Is there more to pool ledgerstone? For example is the glue different? The stone panels that I prefer are the pastel colors, and I can't find this in a ledgerstone from a pool supply company.

Hi! That is a very good question. The answer I would think is yes so long as it is rated for wet use. I do know quite a few people have used ledgerstone on their pools with good results BUT I think they got it from their PB.........I wonder what the difference is between the decor store stone and the pool supply company?

I bet you could call the supplier of the decor stone and ask them. Let us know what you find out.

I have heard of people using tiles and stones from a decor store instead of a pool supply store. I'd imagine it's fine as long as it's rated for wet conditions, it's not really different than using it on an outdoor kitchen and if you were doing that you wouldn't be buying from a pool store. The decor store should be able to give you more info on the actual product or get the name of it and contact the manufacturer direct.

Construction on the pool was stopped due to electric service wires needing relocation. My neighborhood has underground cable, and after a long wait to relocate my service line, the electric company’s crew spotted a hole and would not proceed until an expert verified it wasn’t a Gopher Turtle hole. Once all that was sorted out, we had to get back on the “diggers” scheduled. (Not sure what you call that crew) 7 months later....one electric company engineer fired...and a great lesson in patience...we are now back in business!

A 7 month delay [emoji15] Oh wow! Well I hope it’s full steam ahead from here on in. At least you should be able to enjoy your pool this summer. We’re in the middle of building a tiny pool but since we’re in Australia, it won’t be fully enjoyed until the end of the year.

Since you are at that stage-where the pool looks like a pool I have a set of links to share with you. It is a lot of info so take it slow. It will all start to sink in as you use it.

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

Now is also the time to ask your PB what test kit he will provide. Let us know so we can fill in any holes it might have.

Ahhhhhh I got ya! There are a couple of ways to over come this:

-Become a supporting members as seen here: CLICK HERE to Become a TroubleFreePool.com Supporter!! This gets you more photo storage, a discount on the testing kits and stuff as well as a discount at inyopool.com

-You can also try to find an outside photo sharing site. Do NOT use photobucket as they are charging for it now :(
