UGH!!! My pool is infested ...

Just to keep everyone informed.. The CDC has released a study that indicates these are mainly spread by small children and doting mother's.... Special precautions should be taken when these individuals are poolside..
This is starting to make sense! My infestation started right after a visit from MY mother...

CYA was low and I had trichlor tablets on hand....the extra acidity helps keep the pH in check while I'm slowly increasing my CYA and the extra chlorine keeps the FC higher than I normally run but still very swimmable. I do this every August because the heat and UV in June & July eats up my CYA. I lose ~ 15ppm/month which would be great if that was constant then I'd never have to worry about CYA build up. Usually by Sept my CYA is back up to 80ppm or so and it will stay nearly the same all winter long.

But the alpaca seems to like the tablet floater and follows it around all day....kind of like a dog with a tennis ball....
You are on the right track, Trichlor tablets would be your best bet.. you can throw them and get a decent wack on their horned noggins with them. if you are really good you can spin them like skipping a stone and take out two of them there horney horses at the same time. 🦄🦄

What I gather from this thread, is that the pandemic is much worse for both pools and humans than we could have imagined. And the lack of masks and distancing among the floating set is shocking.

Using a hockey stick to get more oomph, you might take even three!
PETMC (People for the Ethical Treatment of Mythological Creatures) would not be too pleased with this plan.

Note: PetMC helps ensure the welfare of all mythological creatures. Please consider donating to PETMC today. For only 50 cents per day, you can help ensure the welfare of these creatures.

Without your support, creatures such as Yeti, Sasquatch, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, chupacabras, unicorns, griffins, werewolves, mermaids, goblins, gnomes, Leprechauns and many others might go extinct and then where would the world be?

Your are right there, what was I thinking - we can't just be selfishly obsessed with a perfectly clean pool, but have to keep the greater picture in mind.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I started this pandemic. Meet Natalia — the newest member of the pack!! Now time to go buy some copper algaecide and some test strips so I can find out what the problem is!!!!
