Intex Sand Filter - no pressure, but has pressure

Hello,
I have a 20' intex pool. This is my second one as the first one blew a seam big time last year. Anyway, I hooked up my old pump and sand filter to the pool, since it was one purchased separately and was a bit bigger and stronger. The pump was working fine then lost pressure and barely any water was coming out into the pool. I thought maybe it was the old pump, so I put the new pump on with the old sand filter, same problem. So I put the new sand filter on with the new pump (it is empty, there is no sand in this filter btw), and same problem. The thing I don't get, is that when I put the filter on recirculate I get tons of water pressure, but as soon as I switch it over to filter, the pressure drops. It did this with both pumps and both filters, with and without sand in it. The gauge on the filter is in the green. So I have just been running my pump on recirculate to get great water flow, but obviously it is not filtering anything...... Thanks!

Welcome to TFP! You still having that problem? If so, maybe post a pic of yoru filter and pad set-up so we can see everything clearly. Might give us a clue. Also make sure to update your signature as well with all of your pool and equipment info. See mine as an example.

The In/out at the filter should be labeled, did you check that is connected correctly? Where is the MVP lever pointing to? If everything is connected properly I would open up the MPV and check if its not blocked.

Thanks, I will check it tomorrow. When I switch the lever to filter the pressure drops substantially, when I have it on recirculate the pressure is fantastic. The filter is empty (no sand or media) which makes this even more weird..... I will check the MPV tomorrow.

How much sand is in the filter? I had mine at the "max" line and had pressure drop to almost no flow within hours of turning it on and in recirc mode everything was fine. Once I reduced it to the "min" fill line, things have been running with no issues.
