Advice for new pump motor and valve.

Opened up today and have some nice new leaks. One where the slider valve meets the tank The slider is sticky. There is a huge gushing leak from what looks to be around the motor shaft in the back of the pump housing. that and the nice loud churn of a motor and The entire system that’s over 16 years.

So what should I look for? And where should I look for it?

Post pics of what you have.

You can get a new slide valve or preferably an MPV for your filter.

Might as well get a VS pump. Shop around for the best pump deals.

The valves for your filter are at the bottom of the page. An MPV valve will give you more flexibility in operating modes then your slide valve.

If you contact inyopools they can tell you what your valve choices are and what VS pumps they have available.

So I got everything disconnected. Any suggestions on changing the plumbing layout? In the picture there is a small concrete slab that the filter and pump sit on. Behind the filter is a soon to be replaced shed. And to the right of the pump is a privacy fence. Is there anything special to do with a multiport valve? Like reinforce it underneath? Also I have the three lines. 1 is intake 1 is return to 2 locations and the second is a single location opposite side of the others. The single was for a cleaner that is no longer used.

thanks

The MPV supports itself attached to the filter.

I would put more space bet the pump and filter so you can work around them better.

Have you considered replacing your tablet chlorinator with a SWG?

I haven’t needed to use that thing or pucks since I’ve started using SLaM. But yes I have thought about it. But not an option this year. Have to use the budget on the pump and valve.
for space do you mean moving the pump right or the filter left to open up the gap?

I guess another issue is if a variable speed won’t the controller be upside down?

one more item. What about wireless control is that available with a reasonable cost?

I would move the filter to the left to the other side of the timer box. Moving the pump closer to the fence does not buy you anything.

Leave a straight run out of the filter long enough to easily cut in a SWG.

Figure out what model SWG you want for Xmas and see what it's dimensions are for planning. They are all different sizes and shapes.

@allen well I made the purchase on the pump and got a Hayward MaxFlo VS W3SP2303VSP. Hopefully that will last another 15+ years. I do have 244volts going to the timer box so I can run this at 230 volts, and I can get rid of the timer box in the process. I didn't get a Multi valve yet, it would take a while to get here and I figured I'll make one change now and get the pool up and running, then after the SLaM is done then I can look into changing the valve out so the kids can swim.

I looked at moving to salt, and from what I have read or seen so far is that I should get a system that can handle over the pool size, so I'm at 19k which I guess would be a system for 25k - 40k depending on the brand.
Is there anything I should look out for like brands to avoid, or salt cell life spans? I was going to pick up one in the 500 - 700 range but then I read about sizes and mainstream brands and that pushed the price over 1k, along with the lifespan of cells and their replacement costs.

Is converting a pain in the Rear?
Are the conversion costs limited to Salt System, Pipe work, Salt and the Zinc plate?
And is this cost effective or more towards lower maintenance needed?

Sorry for all the questions.
