So our in ground pool looks like a pond! I think I made a mistake and took the advice of a friend who owns a pool similar to ours and used floc. She made it seem like I could use our robot vacuum to clean up the muck after it had all settled. After finding this forum I see it is not recommended to do so as it stirs everything up. We have never used the vacuum/waste setting on our filter. We have owned the pool/house for 3 years and have never been able to get it CLEAN and clear. How do I fix this? Can this be fixed without ruining my filter or completely draining the pool? Our filter has 5 settings: filter, backwash, rinse, waste, closed

Welcome to TFP! Now that you used floc :poke: :poke: you need to get it out. You should have a manual vacuum (vacuum head and hose) right? So fill that hose with water, connect it to the skimmer suction hole, and turn on your pump with the filter set to WASTE. WASTE sends everything out to the grass without touching the inside of the filter. If the floc gets to the sand, you'll need to replace the sand. Watch your water level while vacuuming to ensure the pump basket remains full of water. Go slow to not stir-up the floc. You may have to to it in stages slowly. Remember to turn off the pump when changing filter settings.

Once you feel confident all the floc that had settled is gone, you'll follow the TFP SLAM Process. Make sure you have a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C test kit on-hand. That's a must. Hope that helps.
