Did the bucket test and about .5" delta btw bucket and spa level. I asked a pool builder what he thought and he stated: "I would say light niche is leaking. Very common."

What is involved in fixing a leak at the light? Here's a few pics of the spa light

Thank you,
tstex

Should be easy to lower the water level int he spa, pull the light out, and examine carefully around the niche and where the wire exits.

You can use pool putty on any suspected leak areas.

Well butyl tape is another sticky thing. I think pool putty will be thicker and the fix last longer.

Allen, there's a total of three screws in the chrome cover at 12, 4 & 8 o'clock. I would assume, after turning off the CB, these three screws hold in the light, then there looks like a white gasket...I also have 2 drains in the spa and 8 jets...The PB stated that leaks occur mostly in the light niche, but I am not sure where the leak is...I Iike the leak detection fluid in the video bc it has what looks like a WD-40 extension nozzle that you can really target the outbound wiring line in the niche...any leads on where someone can find that type of tool?

if the leak is not in the niche, then I'm looking at 2 drains and 8 jets

You can just squirt food coloring in the area. It is the same process as what is used to find leaks in vinyl liners.

Fair enough...last question.

is there a go to brand of pool putty or is it all pretty much the same. If there is a large quality difference in that one brand lasts a lot longer, I'd want to go that route. Thanks again Allen, tstex

I have not done a exhaustive evaluation of pool putty. Any one from a reputable company should do.
