Pool opening problems

Your return fitting with the two holes is an Aqualuminator light fitting. You should have a bulb for it that goes from inside the pool to the outside. It will fill up the horizontal hole you are seeing. I have the same identical one on my pool. The return hose then gets connected to the lower vertical/slanted hose connection. Google it or look on ebay for Aqualuminator. It will show a picture of it.

I know they have a few different light fixtures so maybe thats it.. THat would be nice if it was.

Just found it, you were right...fit right in there...all set and just hooked everything up...now just trying to fill up to 1/2 of the skimmer

You will love the light! My 24' round glows all around the pool with it turned on. I'm assuming you turned the light on for just a bit to make sure the bulb was good? My old bulb burned out last year after 13 years of use, so they last a long time.

Re: Lines to, and from pump

Ok, so I started filling up the pool after hooking everything up and noticed I have 2 leaks. The first one on the pvc pipe looks like I just take apart and seal again. What kind of sealer do i use? liquid teflon? 2nd is under the black piece. I tried tightening the 2 screws underneath and it didn't help. And its only leaking on one side. Any help?

Re: Lines to, and from pump

Liquid Teflon sealant will work on the fitting leak. On the filter clamps, you can take them apart in order to lift the multiport valve out of the filter. I also have this same filter. There's a big fat o-ring to seal it against the filter housing. Inspect the o-ring, replace if damaged. If it looks ok, or on replacement, be sure to get some silicone lube to put on the o-ring before you put it back together. I have used cooking spray before to do the same in a pinch.

Thanks for the info. Are those O-rings easily bought at pool stores or is it something that has to be ordered if damaged?

Re: Lines to, and from pump

You can shut off the valve by the pump basket in the picture, & if you have another shutoff for the return (not shown in picture) you can close that & you'll be fine. Otherwise, yes, you'll have to plug the return going back to the pool. Unscrew the union & put something in there to plug it maybe?

Re: Lines to, and from pump

Ok resealed the fitting and checked out the O-ring....It seemed fine...had some Crud around it so maybe that was the problem so i cleaned it off and put it back together...we'll see if it worked

Re: Lines to, and from pump

Ok, i finally tried to start the pump up... I turn it on and it just hums for about 10 seconds...then stops...any ideas?

I opened up the ball valve with the cover off until it was full then stopped and put the cover back on....then opened the ball valve and turned the switch to the filter setting...hit the power and it just hums

:Edit: Power is hooked up to a timer so i just manually turned it to the on position

Re: Lines to, and from pump

It sounds like the motor or impeller is stuck, & then after a few seconds the circuit breaker kicks out. If you could get to the impeller somehow by maybe taking off the pump basket from the motor, you could try & turn it by hand to see if something is stuck in the impeller or if the motor itself is stuck. My old one was stuck a few years ago before I replaced it & got it going by doing that.

It should spin easily in both directions; you usually have to clamp something on the shaft to get the impeller (fin part) off. It sounds like your motor is stuck. I'm not sure about this but I believe you can grab the shaft with some large pliers and try to get it turning.

You probably have rusted/stuck bearings inside the motor. If repeated tries dont get it going, It will probably need new bearings in the motor. If you cant do it, a electric motor repair shop sure could & should be cheaper than a new pump. Good luck & keep us posted.
