Landscape Lighting questions

Greetings to all:

I have a similar question on how to connect my Pentair Intellibrite landscape lights. When they installed the panel they also installed a GFI on the side of the panel and named the breaker Aux 4. The GFI is in working order and I confirmed by testing it yesterday. My question is do I plug the transformer directly to the GFI? Thank you in advance

JB,

It really depends on how the outlet is wired... Does the outlet only work when Aux 4 is on, or does the output always work and they have just taken power off the GFCI and run it to the Aux 4 relay to maybe run your lights?? Your pool light circuit breaker is not a GFCI breaker, so that is odd.

Show us a pic of the inside of your EasyTouch showing all the breakers and relays.

Thanks,

Jim R.

JB,

If the outlet only works when AUX 4 is on, then the landscape lights will only work when AUX 4 is on.

This somewhat depends on the ability of the landscape system.. If it only runs a clock, then the clock will always out of sync with the real time.. And, the lights will only come in when the clock gets to the right time.

Most of them have a switch setting that allows for continuous operation and that is what I use.

You can also just schedule the landscape lights (Aux 4) to come on at off at whatever time you want.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok - so all I need to do is plug the transformer into AUX 4, make sure Aux 4 is all the time for the schedule to work and that's it. This set up does not require me to route (hard wire) the transformer into the panel ....just a plug and play method. Thx

JB,

Just to be clear.. You would schedule your EasyTouch to turn Aux4 on or off, at whatever time you want the landscape light to be on or off.. All you need to do is plug the landscape transformer into the GFCI outlet in the side of your EasyTouch.

jb,

I never even knew Pentair had IntelliBrite landscape lights..

You will have to buy a 12 VAC step down transformer. If anywhere near the pool water you will need to use a pool rated transformer.

I would buy a Pentair 300 Watt transformer, that way you do not have to worry about how many lights you add (Up to 15).

Thanks,

Jim R.

The way I do this with my Aqualink is I have an outlet controlled by it (my extra aux relay). I added this into the Aqualink "dusk to dawn" controller. My landscape lights are also set to "dusk to dawn" but use a photosensor. The Aqualink has some intelligence to determine "dusk to dawn" depending on date and location. The lights are standard low voltage Hampton Bay lights. Works great!
