Should've done this prior, but first time above ground pool owner. I was surprised to see how many people have above ground pools. Surprisingly, there is alot of support and people who have these above ground pools and the parts seem readily available. What brings me to TFP is that with the current state of the Wuhan virus affecting everyone, including our family, our kids are competitive club swimmers and swim on a national level. However, because of the closures of all the pools (including their home club pool) we were left with no practice for weeks..and who knows. I had to find a solution so I purchased a "temporary" above ground pool so they could practice..and it's been great! My kids normally practice in an Olympic size 50M lane pool, however my backyard is limited HA..so had to find something that we could fit. Look forward to speaking with you all.

Welcome to TFP.

We like pics. Show us the training site you created for your Olympic hopefuls.

That’s amazing for ‘in a pinch’. It’s so functional, and if you just want to get out of the house and cool off once the heatwaves come, You now can.

I like the rope idea to apply resistance. My son had just competed in his first high school swim meet before they shut down all athletic activities. Even our average size pool is still too short for him to get a good workout. I'll try out the rope.

Ah fellow swim parent, yes, actually we are using the heavy duty bungee cords we used for attaching our gallon tubs for the swim canopy at meets..hope this makes sense. The previous rubber cord that came with the drag chute snapped..we improvised..and this is MUCH better. The tether bungee cord also has a steel core (inside the plastic hook) so it will not break. The 3rd photo shows the heavy duty bungee, the others were the older drag chute cord - that snapped within an hour. Check out YT for swim tether workouts.

Where did you get the tether from? I need one as I'm training for an Ironman race

Sorry for the late reply, the tether is actually from a drag chute that they use at practice..Speedo Dragtini https://www.speedousa.com/dragtini-swim-parachute-style-7530474

However, the rubber band (that black piece you see from their waist going to the pergola) snapped we ended up typing some parachord instead to the pergola (top beam) and has been perfect. We are using a steel core bungee cord (any Home Depot has this) from the waist to the parachord.

Let me know if you have any questions..
