I was so, SO tired of wimpy speakers that I broke down and bought a set of JBL's professional series EON612 1000 watt speakers. These are designed for professional use like at a concert. I am happy with them to say the least! I am having issue figuring out how to connect them though.

I want the ability to just use one since 1 is enough sound for most things. When I plug in 1 speaker to a single stereo TRS cable from 2 x RCA R/L it sounds "muted". When I unplug 1 channel it sounds good again. Not sure what that is all about I am unfamiliar with professional equipment connections.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get L/R sound out of one speaker? It has 2 channels is it as simple as plugging left into 1 and right into 2? I can't test this because I only have the one speaker cable.

I bought that cable as well. Didn't fit! The inputs "I guess" are male XLR since the female you listed, the female the instructions say is needed, and the female I bought, don't work. The do fit in the pass-through connector, however. So I guess that input connector needs a male XLR. The TRS seems to work ok I went ahead and ordered 1/8" stereo TRS to dual mono TRS to see if they will work. Since the speaker can take 2 inputs at the same time, you'd think I could just throw left in one channel and right in the other.
 
PG, those are studio monitors, they are designed to run in mono config. If you bought the pair, use both, but will need a DSP for true sound processing. If you were close to me, I could whip you up a cable to use just the one, but the sound will be missing a channel.
The reason they have XLR connections on them is for direct mic plug in, and also to “lock” the cable to the speaker.
Proper way to use those.....
Source to DSP out to amp1 & amp2 (DSP splits the signal) amp1 to left channel, amp2 to right channel. :cheers:
 
Thanks AZR! The JBL app that works with them has a parametric equalizer on it. Is that the dsp? I can change the sound significantly with it. But i confess i don't really know what a parametric equalizer does.
 
I just have the one speaker the 2nd one isn't in yet. And the Bluetooth is connected but it's just for sound control not for music streaming which has to be direct connected.
 
Lol, ok. If you want to do this rite, you’ll need a DSP. No biggie, just head over to your local music store (like guitar center) and explain to them what you have for a source, and speakers, and they’ll set you up with what you need. Or if you have a shop that sells high end audio for the home, they should be able to help as well.

In all honesty, you should build yourself a small portable rack on wheels. It can house all the equipment (DSP, amps, etc), that way you can just plug in whatever source you want.

(Yes a pre amp) ((not really called that anymore))
 
My setup now is my phone running Spotify with a Bluetooth connection to a small Bluetooth receiver that has left and right output direct in to these eon612 monitors. Wouldn't my phone be the dsp? I could also download a dsp app if that would be better.

The Bluetooth receiver needs to go out to a DSP. (there has to be a device to turn the signal into line level that the amps can understand)
