Plaster help

Hi! I’ve been stalking these forums for a while now, and appreciate all the knowledge and advice within this site. I have a question about plaster. We have pebble Tec Caribbean blue. A couple weeks after plastering and filling pool, we noticed a dark spot and streaking. The builder told us the pool needed to be drained and acid washed. We opted to wait for swim season to be over, so now they are draining and acid washing the plaster. Any thoughts on what might have caused this? And is this the right solution to fix? Attached is pic of plaster. Thanks!

Welcome to TFP! Sorry to hear about your plaster woes. Unfortunately, many such scenarios comes-down to how the material was prepared and applied. Experts such as @onBalance or @bdavis466 are really in the best position to speculate. Great to have you on the forum.

Lots of reading here about plaster problems and what causes mottling...

If you are asking if you caused it or it was a plaster application problem, then rest assured it was caused by the plaster application.

Let us know how your acid wash turns out.

A discoloration in the bowl of the deep end is caused from the initial spray wash or acid wash where the water was allowed to accumulate before it was pumped out.

Since the plaster was saturated the discoloration is more than likely all the way through the thickness of the plaster so doing an additional acid wash probably won't fix it. With time it may fade and be less noticeable.
