Jandy Nicheless failures

Does anyone know specifically why the jandy nicheless lights fail?

Is it overheating, water leaks, or something else??

I've seen comments on youtube and other forums bashing the lights saying they don't last long. But I haven't seen any diagnosis into why.

I also see Jandy just re-engineered the lights to be non-repairable (so maybe it was a sealing issue?)

I am guessing here, but my opinion of the Jandy nicheless light problems is that it is both heat and corrosion problems. The reason I say both is we had 3 failures in our lights in just over 3 years - and we have a pool that is covered 90% of the time and only used the lights on rare occasions, so it is unlikely that heat was the main problem with our lights.

The new water cooled lights have been running now for a few months - I am hoping they last a few years at least...:brickwall:

I’m wondering if anything can be done to increase the lifespan such as a larger water jacket (2”pipe instead of 1.5”) for better cooling.

Recently bought 10 of the discontinued models for a discount (6 to use and 4 for spares), perhaps foolishly.

Found this old thread Savi Melody LED Light Failures that said the heat cracked the housing and let water in.

The board is waterproof but not sealed/potted and electrolysis will wear away the connections.

Since I have spares.. I'm thinking about filling one up with potting epoxy resin for better heat transfer and to displace any water they may get in. I figure that is what the new generation has.
