Was working last year but notice the service light active when turned on but cleared after running a while. Eventually replaced thermister and worked until end of pool season. Tried system in April and control board turns on and gives me R3 and then goes dark. Blower motor does not turn on. No LEDs active on back of control board. No LED on ignition module. Check thermister and found it cracked. Replaced and still nothing. When I turn on the 120v breaker I see the ignition module light up a few seconds and turn off. No flashing. Replaced Control Board ($$)no change. Bypassed the F1 F2 on ignition module and connected to give power directly to blower motor and it powers on so it works. But no heat. Replaced ignition module ($$) and back to square one. Don't know what else to replace. When I press the yellow button on the back of control board the display flashes 104. Could igniter go bad? Gas is on.

Which service light? Service heater? or Service system? Im assuming you have pushed pool on and/or spa on buttons? Maybe touch pad or transformer has failed. Confirm you are getting 28-32 volts out of the xformer. (Yellow wires out of the secondary side of the xformer) Easiest to follow wires to the terminal block inside the metal box to get a good test point.

I recall it being the Service system. Pushing the buttons does nothing. Confirmed 27.7volts from the transformer. I measured it at the pins on the circuit board. I just got as AGS and High Limit sensors. Connected those but still nothing. Probably gonna return those like the ignition module. Next part will be the touch pad. Maybe the summer heat finally cooked it. Thanks for the tip. I will update after new touch pad is installed.

Service system light indicates one of two things. Either 1) the SYSTEM doesnt have enough pressure to close the pressure switch, or 2) There is something going on with the heaters’ pressure switch OR the wiring leading to it from the main board.

I just fixed my StaRite spa heater this year after scratching my head for two seasons... I was getting an ignition lockout on the Fenwal. sounds like you are not getting any indicators on the LEDs. Do you smell gas when the heater tries to fire up? if not check the gas valve. I had the solenoid on the control valve go out. Starite techs are very helpful troubleshooting the heaters but they stop short of doing anything to the gas valve., and its easy to see if one of the solenoids on the gas valve is out with an ohm meter. Also check the resistance on the igniter. That's an easy check with an ohm meter without having to remove it.

Honestly I don't remember which light was displayed.. but I was getting a ignition lockout on the Fenwal and NO diag lights on the board. Starite techs were stumped, but didn't have me check the gas valve.. they said the don't mess with those. I found a bad solenoid on the gas valve. Since they are easy to check I thought I would mention it here as the symptoms sound similar to mine.
