Hi there,
3 years ago, without doing any research first, my brother helped create a level area for us to put our Intex pool up using paver powder. In hindsight, it sucks we spent that $, and now we realize he should have dug down into the lawn.
It was off about an inch or a little less but overall, was fine. This year, my husband & I tried to level it ourselves and fix that inch or so. We are idiots and made it worse. So one side of the pool is too high & the dog was digging today by a foot, and a paver shifted under one of the legs, which frightened me. So, we are draining the pool right now. I’d like to get 6 weeks out of an easy solution & then next Spring, use the laser level to fix the ground right.
Questions:
1) we used small, 6 x 6 inch pavers under the feet-the feet fit perfectly on them. But should we go bigger?
2) for a 6 week solution, should we try to lower the higher 6-7 legs or build up under the other dozen or so legs? My instinct was telling me to lower the higher section, but in trying to digest lots of info I’ve been reading the past hour or so, I think I read a post that said that was bad?

Of course, we had achieved perfectly chemically balanced pool water, it had just started warming up a bit, my filter & hook on the side skimmer were both working great...all was perfect otherwise. Son of a...

Always dig down to firm ground to level a pool. You will never be able to compact the soil enough to make a built up area firm enough so the pool doesn't sink into it. I would use larger pavers as well. When the pool is being filled the legs will kick out a little, and the pool moves and flexes with the activity of the swimmers. You want plenty of space for the pavers to be supported, also a larger paver spreads the downward forces of the pool across a larger area, which help prevent sinking.
