Algae problem - HELP!

Liverpool NY
Hello,

So trying to open the pool for the season. My husband temporarily worked for a pool company and used their advice to open this year, he shocked the pool and added algecide... Well, it didn’t work and looks worse than it did. I am now trying to clear this mess. I did add a stablizer as the cya was at zero, it’s now up to 35. I am in the middle of slamming it, but not seeing any changes at all with the color. I know it takes time but I’d expect to see at least a little algae gone. I am brushing it daily. I have included a picture.
Please tell me what I need to do. Could the algecide he put in be affecting things?
Having a kids party next weekend and was hoping to have it ready, but I think what he did is causing more problems and delays.

My numbers as of this morning are:
FC: 8
CC: 0.8
PH: 7.4
TA: 110
CH: 300
CYA: 35

Welcome back. You should follow what was described in response to your post two years ago --
SLAM Process
Do you have fresh reagents for the kit you have?
Your SLAM level FC is 16ppm. Raise your FC to that level and test and add liquid chlorine every couple hours.

The algaecide (what were the ingredients) hopefully will be fully consumed by the chlorine soon.

Thank you.
Yes, I have fresh reagents. I’ve been adding bleach based on what the pool calculator advises. It gave me a ppm of 14, but I will change it to 16 and continue to add bleach. Today the calculator advised to add 128oz of bleach to get me from 8 to 14, which I added about 45 minutes ago.
Unfortunately, we no longer have the packaging for the algecide, so I don’t know the ingredients.
I will continue with the SLAM and try to find some patience ?. At least I know I’m on the right track. I wanted to be certain that I shouldn’t be doing something more. Thanks again!

Be sure you are testing your FC and adding liquid chlorine back to 16 ppm every couple hours. Along with frequent brushing of the pool.

The sand filter will take a while to clear your pool. It always takes the longest. Find your POP (pool owner patience).
