Lowering Total Alkalinity (TA)

Hi, I have just refilled my pool after repairing grouting.
The borehole water that I have used has a high TA, 295.
So, I am following instructions here to lower it:
- Add MA until PH about 7.0-7.2
- Increase PH by aerating
- repeat until desired TA is reached
I am going to use a SWG, so a high TA is probably bad for the SWG cell-live.

I do not really have a question, but just want to let you know that the aerating works better than I expected.
I have used a bent 16 mm electrical PVC pipe to turn one of the jets into a shower. See pictures.
Because the tube is bent, the upward stream causes a downward push on the tube and more or less locks it in the jet opening.
It lowers the PH very well. I can add about 5L of 33% MA or more , per day.
So far, I have added 17.5L which should have lowered the TA by 98, according to Poolmath. It has actually lowered the TA with 75.

Sorry for the "duh" question, but which end of the pipe did you put in the jet opening? And is the pipe then pointed upwards? I'm sorry, I can't tell by the pic (distracted by the beautiful view )

Hi Mariana, not a duh question at all :)
I did put the short end in the jet opening and the pipe was pointing upwards. The jet was pointing a bit down so that the water has the right angle upwards. You could make the short end a bit longer. Then, the tube may be locked better in place, but mine worked perfect like this.

Thanks! The fountain we have needs to be screwed in the return opening. So taking the eyeball attachment out and then screwing in the fountain gets tedious. I'm thinking about how it might work for us.
Thanks again Zeerob!
