Help with white spots or spores

Hi I hope someone can help me.

I have a 14 x 48” pool. Normally pretty easy to maintain. CYA was too high because I put too much in. Didn’t realize it would not show on tests for several days. I’m learning that one. Drained 80%. Refilled and just running filter with sand pump and SWG. Pretty clear and most levels steady but looking closely I have some small white spots or spores. Don’t want to over treat. FC 2.4: CC is zero. PH 7.4 or 7.6. TA 70-80. Hardness 80.
Added baking soda to raise TA yesterday but no change. CYA is low but am afraid to add more just now.
Any advice appreciated.
When I get stable what do you recommend after rain? I’ve seen shock recommended but we don’t add chlorine.

In case my signature does not show in in Knoxville, TN so we have lots in the air. I have a tulip poplar nearby too. Pool temp is 76, using solar cover. Running filter 8 am to 5 pm. Salt generator a bit less.

Thanks much,

I think CYA is pretty low. Probably 30ish. I put it in this weekend three times in a sock. Maybe a few ounces each time. I’m afraid to make it too high again. I’ll try to get a picture tomorrow. Not sure my phone will do it. Sometimes we can see it if we hold a dark color like our skimmer since it’s blue. Or look at a angle. Really feel it’s on the surface mostly.
Thank you,

With a SWCG you will want a higher CYA eventually. But hold off until you see if you need to SLAM Process.

I would add liquid chlorine to get to 10ppm FC and see what that does.

I tried to get pictures. It is so hard because sometimes you have to look at an angle. If you zoom in you can see some in these. They are either dots or a small round spot that is irregular, not perfectly round and kind of a milky color.
I thought just on surface, but after I dropped my phone in I saw lots of little white spots move around. :)
Bad morning, but not as cold as I thought as I went in after it.

Thanks

Yes they disappear instantly. And I know the generator is working because the water is soft. I think I may have some air in line because even when running just filter I have tiny bubbles on sides but they move as soon as you try to touch them.

I’ve never noticed liquid chlorine. Is is everywhere like the crystals?

We have rain for Friday, Saturday and maybe parts of Sunday so it is probably a good time to raise FC.

Thanks

Liquid chlorine is bleach, they are the same thing. You can get 6% bleach (plain, non splashless, no scent, not Clorox) in the grocery section or you can get liquid chlorine at Walmart in the garden section or Home Depot, etc.

TC 3.4, CC 0; PH 7.6; TA 80 CA 70, CYA40-50. Clear pretty water, soft from salt water generator, but on close look white dots. Run filter approx. 10 hours a day. Sand is new, add DE weekly.
Put in a small amount of liquid bleach yesterday.

Any suggestions ? Thanks
