Hello all. Time to get the pool going. Water temp is 52 and climbing a degree a day. I don't have a "solar" cover yet. Thats next to order once I get the opening going. A bit of back story; house was built in 1992 and pool was put in in 1997. I purchased the house last April 2018. vinyl liner was replaced in 2013. Since then a national brand name pool company maintained the pool with great results according to the previous owners and myself, As I continued the contract of the pool company until they closed it in October 2018. This year I want to cut costs on the pool and chemical usage. I can do a lot by myself,so how hard is a pool to keep? Guess I'll find out!
Finally got my Taylor k2006c test kit. First run of numbers:
FC: 4.5
CC: 0.2
PH: 7.0 (most likely lower as this is bottom of test kit)
TA: 150
CH: 350
CYA: 90
I'm about to do my second drain and refill of 5k gallons. To drop that CYA number. Then I'll dump the chlorine to shock level and wait this out. PH is low. I'll need to adjust that too. anything else I should do before I dump the 10% HDX (home depot) liquid chlorine?
Been reading this site and a few others that follow the BBB/TFPC method and am extremely interested due to the results I've see on these forums.
