How to get Spouse to Clean and Maintain the Pool

This thread is fascinating. I avoided a swimming pool for 26 years (no room for it at our last house). This time there was no escape. Her pool, her design decisions (including insisting on 6ft at the deep end, rendering that end of the pool uninhabitable and the slope from 3.5ft treacherous). Once done, though, my frustrated scientist/engineer side took control, and I had to be the pool engineer. My only complaint about the TF100 test kit is that it doesn't have more tests. I'd really like to test for bacteria and other contaminants. And optimizing pump speed and run times for maximum skimming and filtering and minimum operating cost is one of my new life missions. My wife is able to fake interest in the things I do to make ours the cleanest, clearest, healthiest pool in the area, but she clearly doesn't want to learn herself.

For the lady with pool side brushing issues, the TFP store's whaletail brush is a miracle tool for side brushing. You just push the brush down, and the whaletail pushes it against the side. Also the Maytronics M400 and M500 robotic cleaners have a third brush that cleans very nicely. A bit pricey, but worth it IMO. Be sure to call Marina Pool & Spa for by far the best prices.
