Did I Get The Right Muriatic Acid From Home Depot

I recently bought muriatic acid from Home Depot. Since my pH went up from 7.5 to 7.8, I want to make sure I'm prepared if it keeps climbing. So I bought (for the first time as a pool owner) muriatic acid from Home Depot, but I'm not sure if I got the right one. I have the receipt so I'll return it if it's not the correct brand. Please help me figure this out. Picture below.

Also, I looked at my pressure gauge and it is time for me to backwash. Will this effect my pH in any way? I still can't figure out why my steady pH is climbing. The only difference I did between the pH of 7.5 and 7.8 was add more chlorine to reach a target level of 9.5 and not 8 as I usually do.

Any advise, on both issues, would be greatly appreciated.

It will work. I suspect it is 14% or so. Check the label.

In our Home Depot, in the Garden Center with the pool items, there are boxes of two gallons of 31.45%.
But unless you need MA often, what you got is fine.

If you test pH right after adding chlorine, you will test a higher pH. Always test pH prior to adding chlorine.

That usually means 14.5%.

I know it is not full strength. So select 14.5% in PoolMath. Test your pH 30 minutes after you add it to see the effect it had.

No - Baume is not %.

Can you post were you found the 20%? I forgot that number is normally not real.

I went to the actual manufacturers website here and clicked on "Label(s)" and got this information about the % of Hydrochloric acid. I bought this product from Home Depot.

The reason I went on the manufacturers website is because the percentage of Hydrochloric acid is not labeled on the job itself.

OK -- great. We do not have that in the drop down box for PoolMath as it is not a normal pool chemical.

Up to you. You can use math to determine how much to use by using the 14.5% in the drop down box and then multiplying the resulting amount of acid by 14.5/20.

Or, return it, and get muriatic acid in the pool section of the garden center. It will either be 31.45% or 14.5%.

Ok..I'll go to Lowes tomorrow. Thanks again for your time. Much appreciated.

Update: I don't have an Ace Hardware near by, but if I can't find it at Lowes, I'll have my hubby get it on his way home from out of town.
