Looking for some help on trying to figure out what to check and what is going on with my fountains. I inherited this pool when i purchased the house so i have no idea how everything is plumbed or wired. I plan on taking the panel off to check soon as i get a day off this weekend. First i have a Pentair Easy touch control panel (attached a picture), i have my fountains attached the "solar" button on the control panel. You can see it labeled water feature 2. I have also attached a picture of the automated valve that it controls. I noticed the other day when i was running the pool that i tried to turn on the fountains and they did not come on. I went to the control panel i when i hit the button the light does not come on and the valve does not move. I have tried turning the switch on the back of the valve to see if i can manually get it to turn but its like it is not getting any power. Every other function works on the control panel but this one. Can somebody help point me in the right direction on what to try and what could possibly be the problem

t,

Either you are confused or the installer wired your ET in an unusual way...

The Solar button can be used one of two ways... If Solar is enabled, then the solar valve is opened and closed by the temperature of the water from the solar panels.. If Solar is not enabled then the solar button can be used to control the AuxEx (Extra relay)... The puzzle is that the AuxEx relay does not turn a valve, it closes a relay which should turn on a pump or some other item run by 220 or 120 volts..

Tell me what the Jandy pump does???

The first step is to find out if Solar is enabled or not... Go to Menu, Setting, Solar... you should see Solar 1/2 and Enable yes/no.. What does it say?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Rphpool you are correct number 2 button is for the waterfall features that i have. It is a separate feature then the fountains that i have on the sun deck.

Jim R, thank you for you help, you are correct in that the installer might have wired it in a weird way, everything has been weird at this new house. I know that solar feature is not enabled and you are correct it controls the AuxEX. The Jandy pump is plumbed to run my waterfalls which is a separate feature (button 2) and that is the only thing that it pumps. The way that it has worked in the past is that when the main VS pump is running and only when it was running the AuxEx button(solar) was pressed it would activate valve and turn to open flow to the fountains on the sundeck. I will triple check but i know that the solar function is off

t,

Well, I learn something new here everyday... Try this... Menu, Settings, Valves.. And tell me if one of the valves is set for Aux Ex or Aux10...

If so, then pushing the solar button should turn on that valve... A or B...

So it sounds as if the valve actuator is bad or the main board is not supplying the 24 volts to turn the valve.

If you drop the main panel down you can see where the actuators plug into the main board... You can swap the connections between a working actuator and your non-working actuator and see if the little toggle switch works.. If it does your main board is most likely bad.. if it still does not work, it is most likely the actuator is bad.. The wire could also have been chewed in half... We have seen this before..

Thanks,

Jim R.
