Endless Pool Pump Alternatives?

Hey folks,

I need some advice:

I have an above ground endless pool (9'x20'x 4.5' deep). I am having to replace the water circulation pump every year.. every two years max. I am wanting change out to something more durable.

Can I install a traditional pump/filter system designed for larger pools, or will that cause more issues than I am dealing with now?

Any suggestions?

Yes, what are you using now and is the pump that fails every 1-2 yrs the same make/model, or are you mixing up make/models?

Can you take a pic of the pump?

How is your pump receiving its power?

Finally, If you look and Mark's and my profile at the bottom, this provides much needed information so the forum members can better help you, plus you do not have to keep repeating what type of equipment you have each time you post a question...

This is the pump that circulates water from the skimmer bin all the way through the filter and then through the output into my pool. Inlet and outlet are 1.5". The electric motor fails often, therefore, I was thinking I could use a more traditional pump/filtration system, but I don't know if it will create too much volume (if there is such a thing).

I think the pump I have is used in smaller spas, etc.

I think you could use a small AG pump. Pentair Dynamo or OptiFlo, 3/4 HP or maybe even a 2 speed operated on low speed all time. I suspect those pumps did not have much in the way of flow rate anyway.

What Mark recommended sounds good, you can also consider other 1/2 - 3/4 HP AG pool pumps such as Hayward PowerFlo / II / LX / Matrix as well. You certainly don't need anything bigger than 3/4 HP. One thing to consider - most of these AG pool pumps are 120V - if you want 240V, again - stick to 1/2 - 3/4 HP model Inground pumps.
