Hi.
1) I have a Sta-Rite light in my in-ground pool - and I'm trying to replace the light bulb. The pool is from ~2002.
The direct replacement rubber seal is no longer made - Pentair provides a thicker replacement with a new serpentine clamp.
I also have an LED bulb I have tested that works.
When I installed the clamp the first time, it leaked quite a bit so I took it apart and waited for it to dry.
The second time, it still leaked and I've attached the photos.
I applied Si grease all over the seal when I tried the installs. I also tried to make sure to really even out the seal all the way around so there weren't any pinch points.
Any suggestions on how to get it to seal? Do I need to tighten the clamp even more - cause it seemed really snug to me the 2nd time.
Or should I consider trying to clean the prior seal (there is some scaling on it) and reusing?
I think the serpentine clamp isn't a very good design cause at the attach points you can see that it doesn't wrap as well around the seal.
2) I have a second bulb that doesn't work but when I inspected it looked like there was moisture in the housing. Argh. I have the kit to attempt that one but I'm losing motivation here after the inability of installing the 1st one. I know I need to investigate where the leak is occurring (seal or back of the housing, etc.).
Thanks to everyone in advance. I really appreciate this forum as it has helped me take ownership of my pool!
