    Learning to read PH.

I had the same issue at first. The 4 drops instead of 5 really helps. It's not the saturation of the color, but rather the hue. Darker red doesn't mean anything. If you notice the 8.2 block is leaning towards purple, and 7.2 block is leaning towards orange. Compare the tint to the blocks and ask...

Pull water from the main drain and avoid the skimmer

A few weeks ago ? You'll have to add water frequently. The average pool loses 1/4" of water a day just due to evaporation. Likely evaporation if it's been a few weeks since he's added water with no rain in the forecast.

    Ceramic coatings on fiberglass?

I have a professional ceramic coating on my car. It’s fantastic. I rarely have to touch the car to wash it. Just spray on some soap foam and rinse it off. Dirt just falls off. I just did a quick search on the boat related products as it made sense to me that a fiberglass pool and gelcoat is...

    Ceramic coatings on fiberglass?

It’s not wax, or oil. It’s a ceramic coating. Once it cures, it wont wash off.

    Ceramic coatings on fiberglass?

I'm a car guy, so quite familiar with the benefits of using ceramic and hydrophobic coatings on surfaces. It's amazing on a car to keep it clean and provide additional UV protection. I was thinking, why not on on the waterline of a fiberglass pool? Might help protect against UV, resist the...

Fast rising PH in SWG pool

Dealer/Installer was out this morning. They told me that in the last 4 years they have had a few structural warranty issues to deal with which were no problem with the manufacturer and got resolved (small cracks around steps on a certain model), and that they have had zero gelcoat warranty...

Fast rising PH in SWG pool

The FC levels are within the TFP recommendation, under the max of 5ppm with the warranty, and right at the iChlor recommendation of 2-4ppm. I don’t think there will be a warranty issue there? The main issue seems to be the TA level they are recommending. Interestingly my installers left me with...

Fast rising PH in SWG pool

Thanks for the replies everyone. This helps my understanding quite a bit. I'll target a lower TA and work with my dealer/manufacture to see if they will give me something in writing to prevent a warranty issue.

Fast rising PH in SWG pool

Some of the reading seemed to suggest that SWG has an aeration effect, although my SWG is set to run 8% and holding FC steady. So what TA would be required to keep a stable PH of 7.6 ? Should I call the manufacturer and discuss the values they are suggesting?

Fast rising PH in SWG pool

Hi, New pool owner here. I've been lurking and learning for a bit. My wife and I have a 20k gallon fiberglass pool that has been open for a month now, learning about water chemistry, using drop tests, etc.. What I've noticed is a pattern of rapid rising PH, where I'm having to add a gallon or...

How have you achieved this nirvana of PH not rising?
