finally filled the spa and ran the pumps, and to much of my dismay: there's super, super, low pressure from the jets; really, really, low... the setup: equipment about 80' away; one intelliflo pump and one booster 2hp pump (whisperflo); 3" suction lines, 2.5" return lines; 14 standard venturi...

thanks guys for the input. how would you prevent the calcium scaling from happening during the pebble sheen / beadcrete cure? i called a couple of 'pool guys' and asking them about the start up, one guy basically stated that for $$$ he will stop by add the acid and the chlorine and come back...

from their website on the purple stuff: "Fast-acting and long-lasting, this great new product helps removes stains & scale and protects all pool finishes from staining & scaling" the blue stuff is the same, but also for metal... if it couldn't hurt, then why not...

I was told that jacks magic is for scaling... Is that not right... Thanks again

Thanks all for the reply. I think i may do it myself as recommended... I don't think the warranty thing is an issue since: 1- if it was they would explicitly say pool must be started by professional or warranty is voided, 2- it seems to me that the worse thing that could happen is scaling...

Hi there, So after some months of learning to construct a pool, i mean building a pool as owner builder, it's finally pebble sheen time!!!! The pool will be Pebble Sheen and teh Spa BeadCrete. I looked over the start-up instruction and i'm thinking maybe i should hire someone to do the start...

I'm an owner builder... Every pebble applicator we met was MORE than willing to do whatever color wherever we wanted... But, which pebble company to use??? Also, is pebble-sheen brand better than mini-pebble? Any input would be great... Also any experience with a southern California...

the spa and pool are separate from one another, so I don't see why they would have to be the same... beadcrete is just too pricy to do the whole pool (for me), and it would be nice to have the nice smooth surface for the spa where i'll be mostly sitting... thought??? thanks, ybz

Our pool is progressing along and it's time for pebble... We want to go with Beadcrete for the spa and pebble-sheen for the pool... It seems to me the mini-pebble and pebble-sheen are similar... (Comments ???)... Can anyone recommend or share experiences with pebble installers in this area...

Thanks Duraleigh and Brushpup for the reply. I thought the bond beam and the pool wall are integral units since they were gunite at the same time and are therefor one unit which will move together or major cracks/failure will happen; please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm talking about the coping...

Owner builder here and it's time for Coping and Tile... Going to have pebble plaster and the deck is going to be stamped-concrete... it is a 20x40 gunite pool with a cover-star pool cover. So here is the issue... I got some bids from various masons, and the price is vastly different... but more...

Hi there, I'm in the process of building my pool and making some equipment choices... i'm going with all Pentair (intelliflo, heater, etc.)... Which filter should i get? Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge Filter vs. Quad D.E. Cartridge Style Filter??? Any input would be great!!! It's a 20x40' salt...

Thanks all for the reply, The software is Autocad and it helps if your cousin is an architect... (but he's never done a pool, so i'm left to my own devices... with your help of course...). Engineering was done by pooleng.com which you reference above. The did a nice, quick job, for a fair price...

Thanks Charlie for the quick reply. The 0'-0" height is the height of the gunnite, so after coping i assume will be 3-4" higher. The drain behind the spa is about 3" below that. How much lower should the the gunnite be than the existing deck which will remain there so that the new deck can...
