    Upgrading skimmer

Ill go with the least dismissable reason - energy efficiency. There is a measurable difference in power draw for the same GPM flow between pipes hooked up to that skimmer and a full diameter pipe going directly into my pool. Of course it wasn't quite a "perfect" test because it also used one...

    Upgrading skimmer

OK... Maybe it would be better to redirect and focus on a singular question here. Do skimmers with a pipe attachment for a 2" pipe have a 2" hole on the pool side, or is the hole the same 1 1/2 size regardless? I can't seem to find this specified on any of the skimmers I've looked at online.

    Upgrading skimmer

Odd comparison considering I only have a single skimmer at 1.5. How could you know 1.5" is plenty without more details? There are numerous posts on this very forum on maximum water velocity and suggesting larger diameter piping, not to mention the objective energy efficiency differences. I'm out...

    Upgrading skimmer

I'm considering replacing my skimmer and have a handful of questions around it. My primary motivator is to upgrade my plumbing diameter from pool to pump. It is only 1.5" which is pretty undersized for my pump. My pool is an in-ground vinyl pool, for reference. 1) On skimmers with larger pipe...

variable speed pump, will it circulate water enough on low?

OK, so it sounds like I don't really have to be worried at all about water on the bottom of the pool getting circulation if I just leave it on the lowest setting?

safe chlorine levels for vinyl liner?

I don't think it's high for the level of CYA, I was afraid it might be high because I have a vinyl liner and everywhere I read about "high" levels of chlorine bleaching vinyl liners, and the old liner was very bleached. I just don't know what a "high" level of chlorine is that would bleach the...

safe chlorine levels for vinyl liner?

I'm using a PoolMaster testkit currently. It seems to be working well. I looked at the chart on this website to get ideal FC levels of 6 for CYA of 50, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't harm the vinyl liner, or if instead maybe I should reduce my CYA and FC together.

variable speed pump, will it circulate water enough on low?

I replaced my dying 2 speed pump with a variable speed. My pool only has a single intake at the top of the pool with a skimmer basket(unlike most of the other pools in my neighborhood, which also have an intake at the bottom of the deep end of the pool). With this setup, if I leave my pump on...

safe chlorine levels for vinyl liner?

Hi, I have a vinyl liner pool. What is the highest chlorine level I can safely have without bleaching the liner at all? If I have a CYA level of 50, is it really fine to have a FC level of 6.0 constantly if I have a vinyl liner? Just want to make sure. I bought my house from my parents once...
