PoolMath From Microsoft MUST have Windows 10 ?? Nice!

Xamarin uses UWP for the windows app, which for a long time did not support being a regular EXE, but you can do that now. I'm not sure that the Xamarin tooling supports it natively or not. I've been out of the mobile game for a bit and back to web development.

PoolMath From Microsoft MUST have Windows 10 ?? Nice!

I don't believe its available outside of the app store. I 100% understand being anti walled garden, but there are some advantages to UWP apps. They are sandboxed and cant do things like edit your registry, which allows you to install and uninstall apps without "machine rot", unlike traditional...

solar cover, how to increase ease of taking on / off

@Uncle Salty Did you get the 3A or the A model? I'm looking into the rocky reels now, maybe the reels I had in the past were just awful reels and a rocky would be easier to use. I'm wondering if I should get the one with the 3" or 4" tube. I do tend to thicker covers.

Why are NatGas pool heaters low efficiency?

Interesting question, watching the thread as I'm curious myself.

vinyl pool, how far can i drain?

Long story short, I hired someone to take care of my in-ground pool for a while which was a mistake, and now my CYA levels are off the charts (I'd guess 160? Neither test kit I have goes past 100). Being afraid to drain the water too low in my vinyl pool, I drained probably 6 inches out and...

Concrete Deck Coatings; Opinions, facts, personal experiences sought!

For anyone else who finds this thread in the future, I used Anvil Deck-A-New on the concrete at my house four years ago and it has held up very well so far. It also had the bonus of filling in all the small cracks in my concrete. There is still one larger crack that wasn't level that it didn't...

does a solar pool cover need to be touching the water?

To go along with my other thread on how to make a solar cover easier... I'm wondering if I have an in ground pool, does the cover actually need to be sitting on the water to be effective? Or can it just be on top of the concrete up a few inches from the pool? My thought is: I could build 1 or...

solar cover, how to increase ease of taking on / off

Solar covers for a pool are great, keeps water, chlorine and heat in. What's awful is having to put the cover on and take it off, it makes me use my pool a lot less when I have to go through the hassle for a quick 30min swim. Especially if I don't have anyone else to grab another corner and have...

Mknauss, I'm not OP, but is a check valve in the system a problem for SWG? Installing mine soon, so just wondering why you were asking. Thanks.

Help, how to get rid of this in brand new pool

I'm not sure if it's been clear here, but I would try to vacuum it with the water dumping out of your pool, not just running it through the filter. Does your plumbing have a valve to have the water dump out?

    Solar Heaters

I can DIY no problem, not seeing any good used panels where I am though. I'm thinking I may wait a month or so and hope someone posts some on craigslist.

    Solar Heaters

HotSpot FPH is a neat idea, but I would like it heated outside of times I'm using the air conditioner. I'd also love to just go the gas heater route, but the gas line goes under an add-on to my house and is leaking underground, and its concrete all the way from the meter to the heater 70 ft...

    Solar Heaters

Also.... I was planning on putting this on a flat roof of an add-on to my house that has no attic. Am I going to be cooking that room to be extra hot when the panels aren't in use?
