Tear in plastic bottom of Pentair Clean & Clear 200

Just checked the bottom of the filter on the outside. It says inlet and outlet and guess what, they are reversed. Son of a biscuit, it's been like that for 4+ years and I've always wondered why my dang pool doesn't clean as well. I've been using the filter in the skimmer to add a layer of...

Tear in plastic bottom of Pentair Clean & Clear 200

I just read this. But don't know if my system is Plumbed backwards. PLUMBED BACKWARD When a cartridge is used in a canister through which the water flow is reversed, or “plumbed backward,” debris will collect between the filter media and the center core of the element. Accumulated debris...

Tear in plastic bottom of Pentair Clean & Clear 200

OK every time I buy a new filter within a month the plastic tears at the bottom of the filter. The top doesn't unless I turn the filter over the other way. Am I doing something wrong in installing the filter or the pvc center section that holds the filter? My pressure gauge seems find its...

    Clorox Bleach

Being in Texas, I'm having a tough time finding liquid bleach. Is Clorox an acceptable alternative to the shock granules bought at Leslies pool store? Also, using the shock packs from Leslies, does this increase the CYA levels? Thank you for your time and guidance.

    Leslies PhosFree

So when Leslies says the Phosphates are high over 100, should I use their PhosFree solutions they sell to lower it or what is recommended to lower Phosphates? Also what happens when Phosphates are high, does that induce algae? Thank you for your help.

    Possible Spa Leak

I'm worried I might have a spa leak. :pale: We've had some freezes here in North Texas and as a new pool owner I didn't open the intake on the spa slightly to keep the water flowing so I think maybe there is a cracked pipe but not sure. The spa fills up fine but when the pump is off it drains...

    Pool Chemistry Questions and Direction

 ok, I'm embarrassed to say, you totally lost me there on that last post. So you're saying that because CYA is present in the water that keeps chlorine levels to around 3-5 ppm, it actually has less effect on us than 1ppm of chlorine in drinking water?

    Pool Chemistry Questions and Direction

I see. My pool is in the sun for most of the day so CYA would have to be added to keep FC levels acceptable to fight off microbes. I've had a few mice in my pool, one dead one, just in the last 2 months. Thanks again for all the advice and guidance. Very educational and helpful.

    Pool Chemistry Questions and Direction

Ahh my fault. Just reread the BBB section, Borax is to raise PH and Muriatic acid to lower PH. :hammer: Please tell me if I am wrong but I believe I read somewhere (maybe on EPA site) that 1ppm of chlorine is enough to fight off microbes in a non-closed water system. Is the reason 1ppm of...
