Annual early-May SLAM... I want to fill this thing in with sand.

Thank you. This is news to me - I totally missed it. I don't raise it that high initially - and certainly not within an hour of starting circulation. How long would I keep it this high? Until it passes OCLT?

Annual early-May SLAM... I want to fill this thing in with sand.

Yep - I understand that - and I wish it was that simple - but that was after the pool began eating chlorine so fast that the SWCG couldn't keep up, even at max with the cover closed. Given that, I think this was just the eventuality - not the cause. I can maintain FC with my IC40 at 10% with...

Annual early-May SLAM... I want to fill this thing in with sand.

Welp. Here we are again. First week of May, and I'm back in a SLAM because the pool started losing chlorine slowly after heating it. Every. Single. Year. For 3 years. It's fine when opening, I start to heat it, and I end up in a 15-day SLAM, using 40 gallons of chlorine, requiring tons of...

    OCLT accurate at 56 degrees?

Same looking stuff. All of it was at the water line.

    OCLT accurate at 56 degrees?

Thanks, fellas! There was some black algae-looking stuff in one of the skimmers, so I'd probably better keep a close eye. I wiped it all down really good when I opened, and no sign whatsoever anywhere else.

    OCLT accurate at 56 degrees?

Hi guys, Long time no post. I suppose that's a good thing. I opened my pool to 8PPM of chlorine at around 50 degrees. The last couple of years, later in the season, I ended up with a weird situation where chlorine was being used at a more rapid rate than normal, and ended up with a short...

    SLAM woes...

Hi from Japan! Good news... My wife reports no chlorine loss and CC stable at .5 for the last couple of days. I think we made it! Thanks for all the help. You guys are awesome as usual! Wes

    SLAM woes...

Thanks!! I was starting to lose heart, but we may be making progress. Lost 1 ppm with CC of .5 last night. Perhaps cleaning the filters did something. I am on my way to Japan, so my wife is stepping in. Perhaps she'll have the magic touch and make it go away. I brushed a lot in the...

    SLAM woes...

I have an irrigation valve that hooks to a return fitting to fill, but no auto fill. I don't know how I'd clean back in that pipe if it was needed. I did run the fill line to flush it out tonight just in case. As for the auto cover, I don't think I can get under it to look without...

    SLAM woes...

I just cleaned them. They did have some brown residue, but not much. Worth a shot.... Skimmer doors look brand new (pic).

    SLAM woes...

I did remove the weird doors. Maybe I should do that again. I do have an auto cover, but it has been open the entire time so not touching the water. No main drain.

    SLAM woes...

No visible algae ever. Gauge does zero and is a high quality Winters glycerine filled gauge.

    SLAM woes...

Curiously, filter pressure is exactly as it was when I opened - not a pound higher - so I didn't think that applied given the 25% threshold.

    SLAM woes...

Surely a dumb question, but it wouldn't be the cartridge filter, correct? That's literally the only place I haven't opened and scrubbed.
