    Filter pressure gauge

Cheers. Have ordered a glycerine filled one. I tend to run the pool all year. But the last one failed in the summer after a few months.

    Filter pressure gauge

how long do yours last? I get very limited life (less than a year) out of the cheap ones I buy. Should I be getting a branded one for greater longevity?

    Salt level

Thanks all. A couple of differing opinions :). My swcg is an unbranded cheapie one. It errors if the salt is too low (when I first installed it I tried it to see if it would work) but other wise there’s no salt level indication.

    Salt level

Firstly howdy, hope you are all well, I’ve not been here for a while as I’m dialled in with pool care. If I’m honest I’ve gotten a bit lazy now I have a swcg and only test every couple of weeks. Anyway my question is if my swcg is producing chlorine does that mean there is enough salt or could...

    New natural gas heater

i thought that might be the explanation!

    New natural gas heater

Yes I thought that after adding my post. Another factor is ambient temperature and duration of pool use in the year. As day/night temperatures drop, a bigger heater is needed to maintain temperature Noting the above, I assume your measurement of size is 35,000 is gallons rather than litres?

    New natural gas heater

I’d look at the efficiency of the heater as well. There’s quite a range. Depending on how close to your house you can also use your central heating boiler to heat the pool. That’s what I do.

    Ladder expiry

Yup it’s printed on one of the plastic steps. A certikin ladder. Looking up ladders just now think I have the wrong sort too, a concrete pool ladder rather than a one for a liner pool.

    Ladder expiry

Those with ladders, do you replace them when they ‘expire’. I don’t really use mine as have a set of in built steps but noticed that the ladder steps apparently should have been replaced. This must be to comply with the length of time the ladder has been rated from a safety perspective so it...

Pool Ladder Pads - In Ground

My ladder is similar- pads don’t touch the wall. No idea if that is correct though. We have a set of in built steps at the shallow end so don’t really use it though.

    Reverse engineering pool volume

A couple of variables to be mindful of in reverse engineering - whilst the bottle of sodium hypochlorite says 10% it might not be exactly this and so the exact strength of chlorine will be unknown unless you measure it - if you’ve any ‘load’ in your pool be that algae or other organic matter...

    Pucks!

So whilst carefully monitoring my CYA level, I added another puck to the pool this evening to try and get the cya up a bit. I decided to check the ingredients of the puck. I was a bit surprised to see copper sulphate listed next to cya. I promptly removed that puck and replaced it with one...

    Cya / FCl table

Thanks all. It was the slam of 10 in pool math for cya 20 that I was questioning. 40pct would imply slam 8. Cya 30 has slam 12 in pool math which ties to 40pct. I think I need to get my cya up to 30 and then I’ll be ok with the charts.

    Cleaning coping stones

I’ve got some rusty marks on my coping stones. Any tips to clean?

    Cya / FCl table

Thanks! I have been using pucks to increase my cya but then got a bit worried about the concentration of acid getting too great around the floating duck and damaging the liner if I only run the pump once a day.
