I greatly appreciate this reply. My shallow end is only three feet, so that sounds like I’d only be draining it down about a foot. The deep end is eight feet, so if I can only do a foot at a time, seems like this would have to be repeated quite a number of times to sufficiently dilute the water.

When I first tested it the sample turned red instead of green. The next time I checked it it was 20.

The tablets were trichlor. I hear you loud and clear. Draining and redoing the filter is now on my list of to-dos for the coming week. Thanks for the advice.

There is a tablet chlorinator device. The previous owner relied on that for chlorine, but I've switched over to liquid since we took over about a month ago. I'll have to check when I get home to see what kind of tablets he was using.
