Jandy ePump noise when under 40 degrees

Thanks for the info. The noise is only present under specific temperature conditions, otherwise noise-free. No leaking or other evidence of bad seal. Model: JEP2.0, Regal Beloit Motor

4 year old Jandy VSP 2.7HP ePUMP making weird noise near impeller on startup

Get used to it when temps get down to 40F or below. 😬I'm considering constructing some sort of soundproof box.....but then spring comes along and all is forgiven and forgotten. I've resorted to running the pump at or below 1000 RPM overnight since the noise is greatly diminished at that speed...

Jandy ePump noise when under 40 degrees

Greetings TFPers! So I've had this Jandy variable speed pump for about 4-5 years now. Every winter I suffer through the hideous noise. It doesn't seem to harm anything other than eardrums and my sanity. Anyone living where temps drop below 40F that owns one of these pumps knows what I'm talking...

    Chlorine levels will not maintain!

Re: Chlorine levels will not maintain! - Make sure water circulates well for at least 30 minutes before both the night and morning tests. Maybe try the OCLT with starting FC a little lower.

    Chlorine levels will not maintain!

Re: Chlorine levels will not maintain! I'll repeat what I have heard here a lot. Check behind any lights, ladders, hiding places. - - - Updated - - - Cleaned the filter after getting it cleared up? - - - Updated - - - Oops. Was looking at my signature and the cartridge filter...

    Boric acid help

Did you add Borax or boric acid? If you added boric acid then you did't need the MA to compensate for the Ph rise caused by Borax. Cloudy could be many things. Full test results?

    still cloudy after 3 days

I didn't read all posts so I'm sorry if this was covered...Question.....with the pool as cloudy as it is, did you happen to add clarifier hoping to clear it up? If so, and especially in larger than recommended doses, you can plug up filter in a hurry and have pretty much no circulation. I'm...

    CYA now at 0

Certainly sounds like something nasty was getting started in your pool. The bleach is working on it. Keep up the SLAM. Questions on your first post....sounds like you raised CYA from 35 to 60 but were still testing at 4ppm FC. Was that your target? Based on the target CYA of 60, minimum FC...

    Does liquid chlorine go bad?

So you're 12.5% actually increased in strength by 30-40%? 32 oz. increased 14,435 gallons by 3PPM? Huh? After a year? What? Something doesn't add up.

First open on my own no Ca!

Your Ph test will be invalid with FC over 10. I know you had high Ph before. Between the MA you added and all those pucks then hopefully you are in range on the Ph.

    Liquid Chlorine Sale at Menards

The other Menard's thread says it's 2 gallons for $4, twice as insane!! We have no Menards so I stick with my 2 gallons of 10% for $6.86 from Home Depot or Lowe's, making sure to get the fresh stuff. Not bad for every day price.

    CH question/mystery

It looks like as long as he is keeping it like bath water at 88+ degrees then the CSI is fine with the lower CH around 150. No other concern with keeping CH low on the SWG?

    CH question/mystery

Re: CH question/mystery [solved] And I suspect you are correct. Mystery solved. Tested the fill water and it is 0 CH. It comes from the softener. Go figure! This may deserve a separate thread but can you advise why a plaster pool on SWG is recommended to have a little higher CH than one...

    Menards bleach sale

Super fresh and super cheap! Nice!

    CH question/mystery

He does have a water softener although I can't imagine it softens the fill water. I will be checking though. :) I'll take a feel of the walls as well. One more thing worth mentioning maybe....he has the water heated to 88. Any impact to testing? New heater too, installed over the winter.
