    TA finally down but puzzling

It just does 1% increments. Is that really surprising? Am I citing the wrong model? Photos attached.

    TA finally down but puzzling

Thanks for the additional followup. Yes, it's a Pentair IntellliChlor 30. The pH was rising, not just to 7.8, but way above 8.0. Hard to measure it but very extremely totally red. :) So my main goal with lowering it was, specifically, to lower the TA as described in the article linked...

    TA finally down but puzzling

Perfect. So the high TA *may* have explained why my pH was always rising so fast (combined with newish plaster pool). I have gone through ~8 gallons of muriatic acid in the last year or so, so it's not terrible but it's not nothing. Let's hope this stabilizes things. Thanks, again, for the...

    TA finally down but puzzling

Thanks, great feedback here. I was working on lowering TA based on explicit guidance at: What Are My Ideal Pool Levels? - Trouble Free Pool which shows that 100 or 110 is significantly above the "acceptable maximum". Is that page not correct or is there nuance that I'm missing here? I'm...

    TA finally down but puzzling

I have a new-ish gunnite pool (about a year and a bit old). It's a salt-water pool with general results of: TC 3-10 CC 0-0.5 pH 7.2-8.0 TA 110 CYA 70 NaCl 3200 CH 375 today, in particular, results were TC 9.0 CC 0 pH 7.5 *TA 70* So for the past year or so the pH rises over the course of a...

Floating, insulated under-cover needed for the winter!

Thanks, magicman. We already have a retracting cover, so I don't think the thermaltech Ultra will add enough insulation for year-round use (plus the cover would then no longer be functionally able to retract). With this cover we are only losing 3-4 degrees (degF) at night as well right now...

Floating, insulated under-cover needed for the winter!

Complete strike out at Plymouth! They deny that they make any such products at all and say that they will not sell to the general public. I even read the above reference word for word and Connie told me that they do not make spa covers, only manufacture for other companies, and do not coat any...

Floating, insulated under-cover needed for the winter!

I will take pix soon. The cover is automatic and can cover up to the whole pool but during the winter I believe we will just leave the exterior portion covered, but not the interior portion (unless we're able to use the Plymouth Foam/Pacemaker Building Systems solution described above to cover...

Floating, insulated under-cover needed for the winter!

So this isn't exactly "under construction" but I think this is the best forum. Here's the situation: We live in Pittsburgh, PA and have a relatively new in-ground gunnite pool that is partially indoor and partially outdoor. The pool extends into a heated/conditioned poolhouse. There is a...
