    boatmen and backswimmers

CH-350, Phosphates were 500+ OCLT dropped like a rock. So I set CWG back to superchlorinate and I used PhosFree yesterday afternoon. This morning the water was already clear. I just picked up one corner of the solar cover and peeked in. I have been and plan to for a while, run my pump 24/7...

    ZEOsand

It's still a 'sand' filter and it is just media. My starting psi was around 18psi and yesterday I saw the gauge was at around 25psi. I did backwash and was amazed at what I saw and how dirty the water was coming out. I then rinsed and set it back to filter. For me, its nice to see the...

    boatmen and backswimmers

I understand my CYA is not yet ideal. I have gotten to where I am in two doses and wait several days before testing and changing it, it may still be climbing. I feel that phosphates are the issue. How else could I have otherwise balanced water and have it be cloudy? For the record, my numbers...

I hate bugs! I am surprised they can survive high chlorine levels. I turned my SWG to superchlorinate for 24 hours and FC went to above 8.0. PH 7.8 FC 8.0+ TA 120 CYA 40 I had my water tested today and all was well but high in phosphates, so maybe those little buggers are eating algae (I do...

    ZEOsand

I dont understand how there could be a problem with sand, but ok. My new filter and sand arrived yesterday. I followed instructions and put everything together. The feature I was most looking forward to with my new filter (S180 Hayward) is the ability to vac to waste. So my first start up...

testing pool water while its raining

I know pool chem balance is affected by rain, but does the test strip get skewed if hit by a rain drop while you are testing? I will probably drag a bucket of water the garage and test it...

    getting re aquainted

The material that is now left is small enough it sifts right through the hand skimmer net. What I did to help matters was switch my filtration to side skimmer only and placed pantyhose over the basket and much has come out that way. Its bluish-gray and like a fine dust. For the two swimming...

    getting re aquainted

I have not opened my pool for two years. I tried opening my pool over the holiday weekend... I have a Kayak 16x20x4 and have always struggled with startups. I think I see the source of my frustration as the paper element type filter that my pool came with. I realized this year that I just...
