Yes I used a fabric product. its farily expensive to cover a large area but it works and it takes a LOT of punishment without tearing. You really need something under the rock to keep it clean, moreso than keeping weeds out (which is an impossibility). If you have rock on bare ground everytime...

My pool is roughly 28x15. the PB initially had a 1.5hp pump on it and it was too noisy for my tastes. Asked him to replace it with a .75hp and much much happier and my pool couldnt tell the difference.

Here's the river rock around my deck. It's large #4 river rock or jack rock. A leaf blower won't move it. It's a pain to handle and haul (especially since I've got 14tons of it around my house) but you only do it once.

You need to get a good test kit and post your results here for the guys to look at. Also adding your pool info in your signature helps everyone too.

I couldnt say. bamarambler is much more qualified to answer that question. I was just saying that is something you could try to fix the problem whenever you decide to do it. 3" over 14' is a lot to be out of level. My pool is 28' long and the specs call for it to be within .75" at the minimum...
