    Poolvergnuegen hose replacements

Our 8 year old Pool Cleaner's hoses have all unravelled this past year. I have just installed the last replacement hose which came with the cleaner originally. What would be the best replacement hoses to get? The OEM's look to run $20 or more per section. Amazon has some after markets for $50...

    Salt level reading not changing

Saying their display "isn't as clear to understand as it could be" is being rather kind. But I suppose we all learn to put up with it. I'm guessing it's been that way for a long time and that Hayward is not interested in changing it.

    Salt level reading not changing

Thanks for the tips bobandsherry. Just to clarify, I was originally thinking the salt level was 2200 (not 0), since that's what the average reading was. (That made sense to me, since we've had a ton of rain (finally) here in California this winter.) At that time, I was not aware that there is...

    Salt level reading not changing

OK, here's the deal. I came home this evening and went to look for the "instant" reading. When I scrolled through the display, it showed "-0" after the Percentage number. (Before James@ mentioned it, I had no idea what that number was supposed to be.) So I figured I must have to turn the unit on...

    Salt level reading not changing

JamesW- that's what I was originally thinking. But it seems like most here are recommending I acid clean. Maybe they didn't notice that there are no scale deposits on the cell. The temperature reading is accurate to within 2-3 degrees, compared to the thermometer. To be honest, I didn't...

    Salt level reading not changing

Thanks guys. Would it make more sense to recalibrate the Aquarite (and maybe recalibrate again when the temp gets higher), or to acid wash the cell? Also, which is the most accurate way to measure salt level? Strips? Taylor kit? Pool store?

    Salt level reading not changing

I installed our Aquarite 940 last April. It ran great all summer keeping the salt level between 3200 and 3400. (Pool store reading was closer to 2800 at the time.) I turned it off in December when the water temp went below 50 degrees and switched to liquid chlorine. At the end of February, I...

    Stenner Tubes

Thanks Bama Rambler. If it doesn't list it on the website, how can I tell which material it is? I'm looking at these: UCCP202 - Buy Stenner Pumps #2 Replacement Pump Tubes - $24.88 And which would be best for MA?

    Stenner Tubes

I think mine just failed after one year. I haven't replaced the tube yet, but I checked the hoses and they are not clogged. Thanks for the tip on ChemWorld. Does anyone know if all tubes are the same? I read in one thread that "Santoprene is the best".

    Diluting acid for Stenner

Actually, that's what kids are for, right? ;-)

    Diluting acid for Stenner

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I guess it's time to just $#!+ or get off the pot. I've decided to dilute 4:1 in my 15 gallon container as I see fit, for the purpose of keeping fumes down and making it easier to adjust pH using a timer (my Stenner is not variable speed). I'll have my...

    Diluting acid for Stenner

Thanks again atttech-2. It sounds like the bottom line is that technically, it's safer to add acid to water, but with a low concentration of a relatively weak acid it probably won't be a problem, especially if you pour slowly. I'm still not clear on why you recommend waiting until there's a...

    Diluting acid for Stenner

I've seen it in several TFP threads. Here's one: Stenner pump for acid -- dilute acid?

    Diluting acid for Stenner

Thanks for the quick reply. Wouldn't the concentration of acid be the same regardless of how much is left in the container? I'm assuming it all mixes together pretty well. Maybe someone who's done this can chime in and let me know what their experiences are?
