Calcium bloom on tiles. What causes this?

Yes. I dilute it, splash it on the tile, and then wash it off with pool water. I usually do it when I'm adding acid to the pool anyway, which is every couple of weeks.

Calcium bloom on tiles. What causes this?

That's what it seems like. We live in South Alabama, one of the wettest places in the contiguous USA. I also suspect that there may be a slow leak in the fountain plumbing. We don't run the fountain very often, though. Most of the year it's shut off. So it's probably just water in the gunite. I...

Calcium bloom on tiles. What causes this?

Thanks. So it looks like I'm stuck with it. I just wonder why it's only right there around the fountain. Maybe there's a leak somewhere in the fountain plumbing?

Calcium bloom on tiles. What causes this?

I just have a few spots near my fountain that look like this. It looks like lime leaching out of the mortar or grout? I can clean it off with muriatic acid, but it seems to just come back.

Not enough circulation - water not at uniform temp

I run the Polaris a few hours in the morning, and a few hours in the afternoon. We have a cover, but we haven't been using it since the temps got above 60° at night. Might have to rethink that.

Not enough circulation - water not at uniform temp

Our pump thermometer and our heater thermostat are both reading near 80°F, but our floating thermometer is reading a full 10° lower. My son went swimming yesterday, and he said the water at the bottom is definitely warmer. Is it normal for the cooler water to be at the top? This seems to go...

    Shrimp or copepods in pool?

Yeah, crawdads are all over. We found them up in Virginia and North Georgia in those little mountain streams.

    Shrimp or copepods in pool?

I get big wolf spiders in the skimmer all the time. Sometimes the big fishing spiders. Fewer with a couple of Frog Logs in the pool.

Aquapure 1400 cleaning port plug part source?

Would the drain plug from my filter work in place of this plug? They all (Jandy unions that is) seem to be the same size.

    Shrimp or copepods in pool?

I think you're right! http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/misc/amphipods.htm This definitely matches what I've found, and they turn red or orange when they die. Thanks!

    Shrimp or copepods in pool?

Basically. Just a larger species in the same family. The bad news is that it seems the egg cyst form is resistant to all kinds of chemicals, drought, UV radiation, the vacuum of space... I don’t think a SLAM is going to get rid of them. The good news is that they seem to be getting sucked up...

Or this species, found in my state.
