Only commented on food coloring because I didn't know if chemicals in pool would cause the coloring to dissipate quicker, that's why I put it in a bucket also just to see any different actions

What is a static test ? I put the same amount of food coloring in a gal. bucket of pool water and it lasted at least ( staying same color) a 30 hrs. before getting diluted by rain

I had a crack in the bottom of my skimmer a year ago (2012) I used JD Water weld two part putty, you knead to mix and soften so you can fill, cover area to seal. It has worked fine for my problem, Now what I'm looking for is a sealant, or glue to cover 9.5 in. base of skimmer so crack ever grows...
