Possible sand leak? Broken underground line? Please advise.

Hi all, I have some dirt/grit/sand that seems to be leaking into my pool. I've read some posts on this forum that outline some possibilities and I'm still not sure what my problems can be. I'll list some of the possibilities and attach some links to pictures. I'm running a hayward s244T...

SWG + CYA + TA + PH ? off, not sure about next steps

Hi All, I have an IG ~19,500 gal 16x32 vinyl pool with an Autopilot SWG. I also have a coverstar automatic cover. I used my Taylor k-2006 to open my pool this year. I had a ton of debris so I had to shock 4 times for the water to clear up. After all of this and adding some stabilizer, I...

cya with swg and automatic safety cover

I'm still a bit confused. If CYA is there to prevent burnoff of FC from UV rays and an unstabilized pool can burn off 1/2 of it's FC in 2 hrs Then if my pool is covered most of the time along with the SWG running continuously at 25%, shouldnt this reduce the need for CYA and hence allow me to...

cya with swg and automatic safety cover

Hi All, My pool is covered most of the day and night with a coverstar auto cover. So, the pool is covered about 80% of the time when it's not in use. It gets most activity after I get home from work and during the weekends with some light weekday acitivity. I'm running my SWG @ about 25% to...

Pink Eye in the family, do I need to shock?

My daughter and I have pink eye and it's bound to spread to the rest of my kids. Do I need to bring the CL up to shock level or should the 3-5 ppm FC kill whatever is causing the conjunctivitis? My k-2006 test kit should be arriving today so I'm wondering what I should be checking to make...

Opening pool , need help on what to add

Thanks for all of your input. I've had to shock about 3 or 4 times and now my FC level just held over night. I have CYA in a sock and have the aquabot running now. There's quite a bit of sediment at the bottom of the pool, I'll vacuum and scrub whatever the aquabot doesn't get. The pool is...

Opening pool , need help on what to add

Thanks for the info. I'm using test strips now and hope to order a kit this weekend. I added 3 boxes of borax, a bit under what the pool calculator says and waited about 1/2 hour to retest. The pH seems pretty high right now maybe near 8.... Do I need to wait longer to retest. Thanks in...

Opening pool , need help on what to add

I shocked my pool with 2 lbs of 68% cal-hypo and will test tomorrow. I went to the pool calculator to see what I need to add and it seems like quite a bit of chemicals. I'm going to add the chemicals in the order that the pool store gave me. Do I need to add algaecide or clarifier? Thanks!

Major Help Needed - first time opener - major leaks!!!!!!!!

Thanks coleb! I'll try the paste on the threaded connections. As far as the heat pump goes, The pool guys drained it last year on closing so I'm not sure how it could have frozen internally. We had a really really rough winter here in Pittsburgh with a ton of snow and cold temps so I'm...
