Winterized too early and now I've lost a lot of water

We like those Intex Sit and Float floats, and after some time it seems the seats always tear off, but the back stays fine. Last year, I decided to leave the pool up over the winter, so in addition to a winter cover, I bought one of the pool pillow doohickeys. I inflated that and tied one of...

How to remove plastic pins from Intex Metal Frame Pool

This first two years I had the pool I took it down. Now I leave it up - much easier! I used to take a rubber mallet and tap the pins from below. That got almost all out easily.

    Intex cartridge filters

This is the end of my 4th summer with the pool. My original 1000 GPH filter/pump started having issues with the power plug, so I treated myself to a new one - this time a 1500 GPH one, that used the same filter cartridge. Being as I'm a frugal person, over the years I haunted the clearance...

    Closed pool = birdhouse!

I have an extra big cover - I'm not sure if it's for an 18' or 20' pool (I have a 15' pool). It hangs down the sides enough to cover both the intake and outtake on my pool. No holes for birds to see.

Best way to dig..... By hand

I dug mine out by hand - about 12-14" on the one side. Me (60-some year old woman), a shovel, a hoe and a wheelbarrow. Took me for-freaking-ever! Dig some, rest some, dig some more, rest some more and on and on. 20 years ago this would have gone faster, but hey - now I'm lounging on my pool...

    Clean or replace Intex cartridge?

This summer I've only used two cartridges - cartridges from Walmart (Summer Escapes?) When I changed the cartridge the first time, I took the used one, rinsed it out real well in the laundry tub then dumped it in a bucket of hot water with some Oxyclean. Weighed that critter down with a full...

    Take down or close?

I've taken mine down the last two winters. This year I plan to leave it up. My pool is 15', and I bought an 18' cover so the cover can lay on the water (lowered below the intake opening) with plenty of overhang. I also bought a pillow (came as a package deal) and will have a couple of the Intex...

    Storing pool for winter question

I've stored mine in the house the past two winters. I drained it, then dried it with towels. Before I rolled it up I sprinkled talcum powder all over it. I read to do that somewhere, exactly where I have no idea, but it seems to help with keeping it from sticking to itself. Once rolled up, the...

How to drain some water from pool

If I need to drain some (or all) of the water I just use a garden hose. Once it's full of water, I pull one end out and drain water across the yard and down a hill to some woods. I can, and have, drained my whole pool in less than 24 hours that way.

What are you guys storing your pool in during the winter?

Pool is (sort of-mostly in and covered with several layers of towels with top over that) in a large, 50 some gallon tote. Last year it fit slightly better, but this year, not so much. Pump, hoses, SWG and the rest of the mechanics are in an 18 gallon tote. Another tote has the spare filters and...

    Pool Draining Questions Intex 15X48

I'm in the process of draining mine- also a 15x48 Intex with a SWG. I just used a siphon hose out to the edge of the yard. Behind and below that is an area that a storm drain empties into, so water is no big deal there. There doesn't seem to be any more water back there than there was yesterday...

Take down the Intex or leave up

I'm on my second year with the 15' x 48" metal frame pool. Last year when I took it down, I sprinkled talcum powder (dollar store stuff) all over and in the dried liner. Somewhere on TFP, I think, I saw this as a hint to keep the liner from sticking to itself in storage. Seems to have worked...
