Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

I am simply talking about having the second 220V leg from the intermatic filter timer that currently leads to the SWCG instead leading to a second identical intermatic timer that in turn powers the SWCG, Because power to the SWCG timer will be provided by the filter pump timer, the SWCG will...

And at this level of usage that SWG might last me 20 years. Last one went twelve. Not a bad problem to have.

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Appreciate that info. At least I know the terminology and that is key. Could probably run one down. Put it in a waterproof box. Familiar with wiring pool systems. Not much I haven't had to deal with in the past 20 years I've had a pool. Just using a basic 24-hour timer with a little...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Thanks for that, and yes I checked out that link and amazon in general. A 24-hour timer is probably the best option. For example use four sets of actuators and have it power the SWG for one hour out every six when pump is set to run six hours a day. Thanks again to all.

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

I know what you're saying, but I have no separate SWCG timer. SWCG comes on with power to the pump and runs in 2 hour cycles or so until the pump turns off. I just want it to turn off after an hour and stay off until power to it goes off and comes back on. Simple. Just don't see such a thing...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

With respect to pipe flow, I do understand that very well. You can most certainly bypass part of the flow around the chlorinator owing to the backpressure as Dirk says, and adjust the bypass valve to send probably as little as 40% through the cell. The way Dirk's drawn it, the majority of the...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Yep, you're right. At 50:50 flow I'd be chorinating one leg at twice the norm and merging it back with the unchlorinated bypass leg. No effect. The three conditions you note are essential. Only issue I have with a separate timer parallel to the pump timer is should the pump timer fail in the...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Running the pump 24-7 with the generator on a timer is a good idea and I appreciate that. A simple timer between the main timer and the chlorinator control would indeed be ideal if I could find one. Run the pump as long as I want via the main timer, but each time the chlorinator would cut off...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Appreciate the response. I don't see the plumbing solution as a problem. I would tee off for the bypass before the flow sensor, and of course also never bypass so much water that the cell is not always full. (It's a transparent cell, so easy to verify that). A separate timer I could see as a...

Need to reduce chlorine generation below level possible with SJ-35 controls

Hello everyone. I installed a Circupool SJ-35 prior to last season. Works great, but it is way oversized for my pool. Even at the lowest setting it generates so much chlorine I can run the pump for only an hour or so daily or the chlorine level goes way too high. I would prefer to run the...

    Circupool SJ-35 install questions

Thank you. I checked the RJ manual and verified, and fwiw I had also emailed Circupool who responded this morning that the SJ unit is wired for 220V and that the jumper would be needed only if I wanted it 110V (which I don't). Either way, looks like I am good on that. Circupool also indicated...

Thanks to you both. Wiring is as I assumed, provided the cursory explanation in the manual is correct. I remain confused on that jumper. Obviously something potentially critical.

    Circupool SJ-35 install questions

Hello everyone. Just received a Circupool SJ-35 unit to replace my old Intellichlor IC40 that died late last year. Preparing to install and have a few things bugging me I would like to get clear on before starting. 1. The flow cell. Generally manufacturers recommend a 12" straight run of...
