Hayward Super Pump Leaking in front of seal plate

Thanks everyone. The new pump housing fixed the leak. I removed the hodgepodge of couplings, and put in threaded coupling.

Hayward Super Pump Leaking in front of seal plate

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to order a new pump housing, since everything from the seal plate to the motor is new, plus a new housing gasket. About $200 vs $400+ I guess the wisdom of that choice will be revealed soon. The real bugaboo is all the re-plumbing that has to be done. The...

Yes, replaced as part of seal kit. Took a wooden toothpick and cleaned out the slot. Used Teflon grease on the gasket. Was careful when mating it back to be sure the gasket stayed in the slot.

Hayward Super Pump Leaking in front of seal plate

I am about ready to give up and buy a new pump. I installed this Hayward Super Pump in the mid 90's and over the last couple of years it has been leaking a little. I put in seal kits on several occasions, most recently this year. This year, the second motor I put on it finally gave out with...

Clompleted first SLAM. Things are looking good.

Two days ago, after 3 days of SLAMming, the pool passed two of the three tests. CC was 0, overnight FC dropped half a point down to 19.5. But, the water was still a little cloudy. By evening the FC had dropped to 13. So I raised back to 20. Yesterday the pool started looking clear, so I let...

Shock Level FC Test "bounces" a little. Am I doing it right?

I just got my Taylor 2006 test kit, and have started my first SLAM. With 50 ppm of CYA, I am maintaining a 20 ppm FC. Following the directions, after adding in the DPD powder and stirring, I start titrating in the drops of reagent, and reach\ the point where the sample turns clear. I reach for...

Howdy from Texas. I just found this site, and it has been very helpful. I live in a home with a 39 year old in-ground concrete pool. The pool is lined with a rough gray plaster, not exactly a pebble finish. It is in a wooded back yard, so it looks pretty good with the dark lining in that...
