I have ABSOLUTELY no need for a VS pump ..... right?

The answer to my original question turns out to be "wrong". Two speed pumps are few and far between these days. I decided on a Waterway Power Defender 140. The price is good and its RS485 connection could have some hackable potential.

I have ABSOLUTELY no need for a VS pump ..... right?

Thanks for all the feedback. I have a better understanding of how the VS pump works to save electricity. I had not considered the 2 speed pump but it is looking like the best option for me as I can get the the energy savings and it will be easy to integrate with my home automation. Is there any...

No rebates are available for me unfortunately.

I have ABSOLUTELY no need for a VS pump ..... right?

That's what makes it difficult in my situation. My delivery charge is 3.6¢ but because my rate is variable, I've seen it range from -3¢ to $11 but average is about 3¢. When I use electricity can have more impact than how much I use.

I have ABSOLUTELY no need for a VS pump ..... right?

What is the benefit to running it longer VS full speed for shorter?

Does anyone know of a wifi-enabled filter pressure gauge?

I have the ESP8266, pressure sensor, temperature sensor, and liquid level sensor (for my chlorine tank) sitting on my desk waiting on me to finish other projects.

I have ABSOLUTELY no need for a VS pump ..... right?

A few weeks ago I posted about my 30 year old SuperPump and it's issues. The only suggestion I got was to replace it with a VS pump. I've been running the pump since then and trying to decide what to replace it with. Yesterday I turned it on let out the magic smoke, so I guess I can't put it off...

    Superpump Housing bolts.

I have a superpump that is probably 30 years old. The motor bearings need changed and I have run in to two issues. The bottom pump housing bolt on one side appears to have been over tightened to the point that it crushed in to the housing and the corners of the bolt were rounded off. The...

Adding water - Auto Shut Off

Looks like a nice setup Love, I'll have to take a closer look at it. I'll been tossing around a few ways to automate the pool including fill and may borrow some of your ideas. At this point I'm leaning in the direction of a Vera/Mysensors type setup.

    12 volt solenoid valve

I have some gently used Burkert Solenoid valves which I believe have FKM seals (i can double check later) that I'd sell for a very reasonable price (considering they would be going to an interesting project). The valves however are 24V. Let me know if you are interested.

    CO2 Injection

I'm more curious about how its typically done, and if I do put something together it will be more for the sake of putting it together than anything else. I have a significant amount of beverage equipment on hand so cost shouldn't be much of an issue. One reservation I've had regarding CO2 is...

    CO2 Injection

I'd like to start a discussion on CO2 injection. It seems it is often quickly shot down whenever it is brought up here for a number of different reasons but the discussion never goes very far. I think I'm in a slightly different situation where it would normally be ridiculous for me to even...

    Just ordered my Stenner

As far as the injection point, IMHO, the easiest and most effective way to do it is to drill and tap one of the unions (where you have a layer of union and pipe) on the return line and be done with it.

    FS: Rola-Chem Peristaltic Pump

I guess I set my asking price to high? Oh well, I'm going to withdraw my offer and put this on a shelf in my garage in case I need it for something some day.
