    Chlorine Too Low

I would also be careful where you get your liquid chlorine from. When we first moved to our new home and inherited the pool, I was buying it from the corner grocery store until I discovered they were not replacing it and had very old supply. I noted that Home Depot was storing theirs out in...

    Something chewing up my CL

Ok thanks . I'll carry on then. I just go crazy over little things like a sudden CL level getting chewed up for no obvious reason. That's just me - perfectionist. LOL!

    Something chewing up my CL

Hey Marty, I'm sorry I kept forgetting to do the test before bed. Finally set an alarm and got it done just after sunset. Repeated at 5:30 this morning and results were spot on the same. 4.4 and 4.4 I buy my reagents in bulk, particularly the DPD Titrating and DPD Powder. The Titrating is...

    Something chewing up my CL

Thanks! I’ll do the test and let you know. I’m assuming if it’s over 5 as the sun goes down, it shouldn’t matter as long as it’s the same the following morning before the sun hits the water. Correct? I’ve done this test before a couple years ago.

    Something chewing up my CL

Hey everyone. I need your thoughts on this. Haven't posted here in a really long time. My chemistry has always been rock solid. I test every morning for temp, CL and PH and then do the full test once a month because the others hardly ever drift. About a month ago, I was having issues with...

    Ph keeps creeping up

I agree that it’s normal. At least for me. 4 oz every morning seems to keep it right at 7.6. I have the stray days that it drifts a little up or down.

    Liquid Chlorine Usage Not Consistent

Yep, that occurred to me and I added more that morning. My normal routine is test and adjust in the morning. It's never under 4 and I just did my monthly full test this morning. CYA drifted down under 40 so that's my number now. Alkalinity also dropped from 70 to 60 but hardness is still...

    Liquid Chlorine Usage Not Consistent

Ah! Well that's the wonderful thing about this forum - you learn stuff. <grin> Yep I didn't know the CYA test was not linear and just figured it was just above the 40 line so that must be about 42. I don't mind using the larger amount of regents as it's now my workflow and I like the greater...

    Liquid Chlorine Usage Not Consistent

Thanks Kellyp! Yes I tested it yesterday afternoon to check that and 32oz at 10% kicked up the level from 4 to 5 which is pretty close to what I would expect in a 20,000 gal pool. The size of the pool is a best guess anyway. That's a good thougt on the OCLT so I will pursue doing that...

    Liquid Chlorine Usage Not Consistent

Thanks nobody291! Yes I'm using the Taylor test kit and test every morning. It's just that I'm needing so much more than last summer but I'm suspecting it was the Ozone unit which helped with the chlorine usage but that is removed now.

    Liquid Chlorine Usage Not Consistent

Hey folks, I hope all of you are doing well! I've been super happy with our pool which came with our house purchased in Sept of '19. It had a lot of problems but I sorted it all out and it's been nearly perfect for the past year. I use the fantastic Pool Math app to keep track of...

Checking My Thoughts On LC Purchases

That's a good idea Richard! I checked and its funny because I never realized there was a pool store even closer to me than the Leslie's store which is a good 15 minutes away. I think I'll call a friends pool guy and see where he gets his from. I spoke to him initially when we moved in back...
