    discontinued DE filter grid replacement

Just an update. I get all 8 filter grid replaced. It is all good now. My pool is clean again. My DE filter does not have back wash valves. I have to open the tank to clean it. I just find out that using the shop vacuum to suck the water out of the bottom of the filter tank works wonders.

    discontinued DE filter grid replacement

Thanks for the tips. I have open the filter to clean it many times so I don't mind replace it myself. The filter is so old that it does not have a back wash valve. I have to do it the painful way every time, opening the filter. I guess that is possible one of the reason why the grid ruptured.

    discontinued DE filter grid replacement

I have a Leslies's DE filter from my previous owner. It is very old. The filter grid screen has been ruptured so now it is spitting dirt back into the pool. I went to leslie's try to find a replacement grid. It turn out this filter is long discontinued. The closest it got was call Wet...

slow and steady chlorination idea- first tests

Interesting. I bet placing the jug near the water return can accelerate the bleach leaving rate. I can see myself making a pvc pipe case to hold it. The plus benefice is that, the acceleration only happen when the pump is running. And I don't have to worry about the vacuum robot bumping into the...

    DE filter pressure never raise?

Good idea. I will try that. Will the extra DE cause problem for the filter?

    DE filter pressure never raise?

If I block the return, by using a jet return or some thing. The gauge reading will raise. It is just not raise by DE filter along. So I guess the gauge can measure higher readings. I haven't seen the fine silt in the pool. The pool seems perfect otherwise.

    DE filter pressure never raise?

It has been a few months since I replace my DE. BTW, my DE filter does not have the back wash port. I have to open it up to clean it. The water is crystal clear as usual. But I never saw the DE filter pressure raise. It is always a little more than 10 PSI. Makes me wonder if the DE filter is...

    Ornery cloudy water

Welcome to TFP. :goodjob:  Your PH & CH seems very high. It seems that your shock (as process) works. It is the filter did not remove the dead algae from the pool. It does not sound right that you got cloudy murky water on return. Unfortunately I don't know much about sand filters...

The pool has a green tint to it

Your CYA is raising fast. You need to stop using power or tabs to shock your poor. Otherwise your CYA will get too high and you have to partial drain the pool to get it down. If you haven't done so, please spend some time reading the pool school: pool-school/ Pay attention to the relationship...

Variable Speed Pumps Not Recommended for 1.5" Piping ??

Same thing happen to me. I was looking for the VS pump and the pool guy come out to see my setup and said the VS pump is not recommended for 1.5 pipe. He recommend the 1/2 HP Whisperflo instead. I only have 110v to the pump. Running a new 240v wire properly will likely cost $200+ for material...

    What to adjust first?

210 is not too bad. Agree with Melt In The Sun, partial drain to bring down CYA and CH.

    My Beautiful Chlorine Monster! Help!

If the ascorbic/citric acid depleted, will the metal stain show up again?

    My Beautiful Chlorine Monster! Help!

Good question. I don't know the answer to that. I am not very familiar with the other metal removing chemical, but I suspect it does not actually remove the metal. It just prevent it show up as stain. Algae itself does not show up as CC. The chlorine get used up to kill Algae show up as CC.
